Strategically speaking, utilizing closer forces, can have overlapping conflicts, compromised alliances, bias and could bring more risk as those troops have a higher chance of local interests and/or more of a chance to be recognized after deterrence. Utilizing a distant and different unit mitigates the issues 10fld or completely eliminates local contamination.
