@antumbral @FreyaHolmer iirc it was added in IE4 for its proprietary document.all API b/c DOM Level 1 hadn't yet been standardized or implemented; NS4 used the even more convoluted document.layers, modeled on their earlier DOM 0 APIs for things like images, forms, etc, which didnt work that way
