Hands to Replenishment Stations. Here is a close up of the RAS team sending rig 4 to one of our recent customers filmed by our CO Capt Wingrove from the bridge.
We have arrived in Narvik in Norway for a quick logs stop. All I can say is wow what a stunning scenery as we transited the fjord. Stay tuned for updates on what the crew get up to whilst we are here.
Since leaving Scotland we have headed north, the temperatures have plummeted and there was sideways snow with 40 knot winds yesterday which made for challenging working conditions. The daily reward for dealing with these conditions has been some spectacular northern lights
We don’t just carry Diesel we also carry aviation fuel. We recently embarked a Merlin from #814 NAS and have been working hard to integrate them into team TIDESPRING. Yesterday we practiced HIFR - Helo In Flight Refuelling
After a period alongside we are at sea on a COs sea week conducting drills to refresh our operational capability. Already this morning we have exercised steering gear failure and given our rescue boat crew a run out.
Refuelling a ship of our size takes 2 very long days. A lot goes on the background ensuring we accurately keep track of how much we have loaded and that the fuel is of a good quality. The fuel we are being given today is B-E-A-uitful!
Even the floating fuel station has to top up from time to time. We re currently loading fresh fuel stocks in #Campbeltown. Even the weather is being kind to us. @RoyalNavy@RFAHeadquarters
Training our next generation of seafarers is an important part of any operation onboard. Here one of our #Glasgow College Deck Cadets is being mentored on WECDIS supporting the Navigator on our way into port - where are we? Check back tomorrow to find out! @RFAHeadquarters
