@jays_tweetery@sentientist@myhandle I think the Cornell 7 have the right to be mad at promiscuity.
I doubt that they are going to be having threesomes again
The average young woman in America is bombarded constantly with messaging that allows and even encourages her to dodge culpability for her own actions. If there’s an “institutional failure” here re Cornell 7 case, it’s that.
One of the problems I think is that places like Planned Parenthood tell people that intoxicated people can’t consent. That impaired judgment means you can’t consent. But that isn’t the law anywhere. So people are set up to be disappointed with the law.

When military bases banned alcohol from the barracks/dorms, sexual assault went nearly to zero. Colleges can’t realistically do this though because half the reason young people fill out the common app is to get drunk and sleep with a stranger.
This should be really simple. If you’re a man, avoid extreme hedonistic edge cases of consent. If you’re a woman, avoid becoming completely incapacitated and defenseless in rooms full of strange men. This conversation has been deranged by deontological assertions about how the rules “should” operate that tacitly assume an omniscient and impartial court system. But you know we don’t and can’t have that, so don’t be an idiot. Exercise some basic judgement and restraint. It doesn’t really matter if you were morally in the right if it’s going to wreck your life anyway. Be sane. Tell your sons and daughters both to not engage in drunken orgies so your sons can avoid jail and your daughters can avoid rape. There is no possible system that isn’t dystopian-levels of intrusive and totalitarian that will close all possible gaps in our legal apparatus such that it’s safe to act like an unhinged moron with no consequences.

I see that Stella Creasy is accusing me of leading a pitchfork mob against her, because I opined that she is less likeable and more hypocritical than the wild parakeet she mistook for an escaped pet.
For those who don’t know, Creasy is an elected politician and self-proclaimed ‘old-fashioned feminist’ who is ‘still fighting the patriarchy’. She’s more than once publicly defined herself against me (and my reaction was not to accuse her of leading a mob, even though I was probably averaging a dozen death threats a day at the point when the article below appeared.)
I thought it might be instructive for those of us who don’t share Creasy’s brand of ‘feminism’ to examine her campaigning record, so we can learn to do better.
Creasy wants women admitted to the male-only, exclusive, London-based private members Garrick Club, a change that would benefit rather privileged women like Creasy. Creasy is a mother who wants better accommodations for working mothers, a change that would benefit Creasy. Creasy takes selfies at a men-only Muslim march because that reminds everyone how non-racist she is, which benefits Creasy. Creasy asserts that ‘trans women are women’, which keeps her in good odour with her party’s most aggressive activists, and benefits Creasy.
However, keeping cross-dressing heterosexual men out of nurses’ changing rooms doesn’t benefit Creasy, because Creasy has never had to mop up other people’s piss, blood and vomit at work. Challenging the notion that a male basketball player becomes a girl if he says he is doesn’t benefit Creasy, who has no sporting ambitions. Speaking up against the patriarchy as practised by non-white men doesn’t benefit Creasy, who wants those selfie-opportunities. Criticising an ideological movement that persecutes, harasses and openly threatens women who don’t believe some women have penises wouldn't benefit Creasy, because she's already fully-signed up to self-id, where any man who says he's a woman must be taken at his word.
As the late Gloria Steinem said: ‘“Feminism has never been about getting a job for one woman. It's about making life more fair for women everywhere.’
Creasy the patriarchy-challenger is provably more than happy to cosy up to men and misogynist movements when it suits her public profile and career advancement, no matter the harms those men might be causing less privileged women. By Steinem’s definition, what Stella espouses is not feminism, but Creasyism, and I suggest the emblem for this brave new rights movement should be an indignant parakeet with severely ruffled feathers.

“We will always stand with the underdog” is an idiotic child’s approach to international affairs.
The Taliban were the underdogs. Al-Qaeda were the underdogs. ISIS were the underdogs. The IRA, ETA, just about every terrorist group were underdogs. What a moronic thing to say.
When did trafficking babies focus on the “rights” of those trafficking them and the why are media giving them a platform to demand their “rights” to parent a baby they ordered from a woman overseas?
Take a step pack and look at global surrogacy for what it is. Like all successful commercial industries, the lucrative global surrogacy industry tailors and pivots its messaging where required to navigate regulatory regimes and deploy its marketing strategy (that’s what this interview is - marketing). The industry does this like any other industry: to engage with potential consumers, to secure supply chains (women and girls as surrogates and egg donors, or men and boys as sperm donors - remember the age of consent differs across the world, despite a child being defined as anyone under 18 by the UNCRC. The industry also lobbies governments ans opposition politicians and uses the ‘market demand’ it creates to move the dial on removing legislative and regulatory blockers.
UK politics is still in its EDI/DEI fear of offence wave, so the focus on ‘the rights’ of two men who ordered a baby from overseas in an attempt to circumvent UK laws is predictably, “agree, or you are homophobic!”
This focus on gay men is also, I suspect, an attempt to displace bad publicity and issues raised by the abhorrent criminal charges, including r@pe and human trafficking, of the ‘father’ (pardon the pun) of the commercial gay surrogacy market in the UK and his current husband.

Note that babies have human rights, including their identity, that the global surrogacy marketplace deprioritises to accommodate adults' wants. There is, in contrast, no human right for ANYONE to have a baby.
@bennyb082@_alice_evans@grok And because a woman can be Queen, women had full access to every institution and was never locked out...
Great chat Ben. Enjoy the rest of your day
@d_uriele@texastoadstool@estherzelda0514 Men cut their own limbs off for sexual pleasure and you are asking "why would a man pay a hooker to pretend to like him?"
Don't be naïve, it is a stupid look
@bennyb082@_alice_evans@grok To answer my own question (because I've no idea why I'm bothering with this dead convo and I have better things to do with my life): she was born into the institution.
@bennyb082@_alice_evans@grok Yes you are saying that the existence of Queen Victoria proves that Victorian England was an egalitarian society...
You have very basic understanding of the world. But that does not mean that Alice is wrong and you are right
@bennyb082@_alice_evans@grok No, its not false. Unless you are arguing that human societies have always been egalitarian, then I'm not entirely sure what your argument is. Muslim countries are patriarchal but they also have women in positions of power, including head of state.
@bennyb082@_alice_evans@grok Ben, again "Patriarchy" means "Rule of Fathers" it does not mean "Men Rule the World".
Under a patriarchy only some men get to call the shots. Patriarchy does not bar female leaders
