I am grateful that SIU Press will be publishing my upcoming book on child-to-parent violence and abuse (CPVA) and the Sheila von Wiese-Mack tragedy next summer. Here is a recent post on the book from Executive Editor Sylvia Frank Rodrigue:
@helenbonnick Sheila’s tragedy illustrates the urgent need to assist parents AND children in child to parent domestic abuse situations before it’s too late. Thank you to the hard working professionals in the UK and elsewhere who have helped to pave the way for greater understanding #CPVA#CPA
My prayers are with the siblings and family of Sheila von Wiese-Mack. I was fortunate to speak with The Times (UK) about Heather Mack’s sentencing and increasing public awareness of child to parent violence and abuse (CPVA). #justiceforsheila#cpva#cpa https://t.co/tG3RUdxoYP
@helenbonnick Thank you for sharing this article! So many common threads between characteristics of CPVA here in the US and how the problem plays out in other parts of the world.
Honored to have been a panelist at this month’s promising Child to Parent Violence and Abuse (CPVA) Roundtable in Michigan. Data suggests that all but one county in the state of Michigan reported occurrences of CPVA in 2022.

October 14th is Child to Parent Abuse Awareness day. Please help support community members dealing with this hidden form of family and domestic violence, by encouraging honest dialogue about children who abuse their parents, grandparents, or other adult caregivers.

In Part 1 of The Crisis of CPVA @WhenLambsBecomeWolves - retired sergeant Rasul T. Freelain briefly describes the form of abuse hiding in plain sight in the U.S.
@MrAlCoates@helenbonnick@RutterNik Yes. As does this:
“no mother reported successful engagement with social care, youth justice, or mental health services when help-seeking, they needed to reimagine their parenting role, or hit crisis, before accessing appropriate support…”
