@LorenzoPC2 @FoundnAntiquity Suspect it has a lot to do with Italian being an inflectional language to start with: the similarities between Italian and Latin are such that students have a bit of a head start on native English speakers. Or am I being naive?

@LEJenksBrown In addition to what others have said, in Book 23 right at the end Teucer loses the archery contest to Meriones, and the poet says it is because he didn't offer Apollo enough sacrifice whereas Meriones did.

On October 15 70BC, Publius Vergilius Maro, author of the Aeneid, was born. He was 7 years old during Cicero’s consulship, 21 years when Caesar crossed the Rubicon, 26 when the dictator was murdered, and 39 when Octavian defeated Antony and Cleopatra at Actium. He died aged 51.
