The Central Bank of Liberia (CBL), in partnership with Afreximbank, today hosted a one-day capacity-building seminar aimed at enhancing correspondent banking relationships and cross-border payment systems for Liberian financial institutions.

Key highlights from the seminar:

✅ Explored Afreximbank’s Cross-Border Interbank Payment System (CIPS) and AfPAY platforms to improve payment efficiency and reduce transaction costs.

✅ Strengthened understanding of correspondent banking and international payment networks.

✅ Highlighted opportunities to expand settlement options and support regional financial integration.

✅ Discussed the importance of digital payments and financial inclusion through Liberia’s Inclusive Instant Payment System (IIPS).

✅ Promoted solutions to support trade, private sector growth, and access to trade finance, particularly for SMEs.

✅ Reinforced Liberia’s commitment to innovation, financial stability, and compliance with international standards.

Speaking at the event, CBL Executive Governor Henry F. Saamoi emphasized that modern financial infrastructure is critical to Liberia’s economic transformation and deeper integration into regional and global markets.

The seminar brought together senior banking executives, financial sector stakeholders, and Afreximbank experts to explore practical solutions for strengthening Liberia’s financial ecosystem.

.@liberiapp NTA Completes 60-Vehicle Fleet Acquisition Through ABK Motors Partnership

Monrovia, Liberia-June 10,2026
The National Transit Authority (NTA) has received the remaining 25 vehicles under its agreement with ABK Motors Incorporated, completing the acquisition of a 60-vehicle fleet aimed at strengthening public transportation services across Liberia. The final shipment includes 20 fifteen-seater buses and five cargo trucks.

The latest delivery follows an earlier consignment of 35 vehicles and fulfills the contractual agreement between NTA and ABK Motors. The partnership was announced as part of efforts to modernize the Authority’s fleet and improve the movement of passengers and goods nationwide.

With all 60 vehicles now delivered, NTA is expected to expand its transportation network and increase operational efficiency. The fleet, which includes passenger buses and cargo trucks, is intended to support the Authority’s mandate of providing reliable and accessible transport services throughout the country.

The three honorees were Lt Col Darin Hunter, Maj Matthew Brown and Maj Samuel Winsted assigned at the US Embassy in Monrovia.
There was exchange of gifts during the ceremony.
