Youri Tielemans. It is no coincidence that Aston Villa’s big dip came when he was injured. He proves himself as one of the Premier League’s best midfielders season in season out.
Gabriel does get reffed to a different standard and it’s baffling to watch at times.
Throwing himself into players and going over screaming, then when it’s reversed and he’s wrestling players over or headbutting them it’s all calm.
And btw I don’t blame him for doing it cause he knows he can get away with it, these refs just need to wake up mate
@Ellis_ It’s sad, but also quite immaterial imo What will Bruno leave United with? A much bigger club than Atleti, with significantly superior finances. Can’t hold the team someone plays for against the player.
I also don’t like this narrative about Neymar. He’s had an absolutely phenomenal career. All-timer levels. We can acknowledge that without getting into the what ifs.
Premier League disciples will have you believe that the only reason we can’t play this level of football is because our schedule is too intense and the players are too tired.
That might be a contributing factor, but I’m afraid we also have to acknowledge that, as much as I love players like Rice, Caicedo, Saka, Palmer, James, Semenyo etc… the list goes on… they just aren’t quite at the same level.
Which is fine, we’re talking about THE BEST players in the world.
But we as Premier League fans do have a tendency to overrate players playing in England, particularly if they’re English!
Imagine Flick had Mendes and Hakimi as his fullbacks, or anything close…
The physicality of the backline is the single biggest difference between a PSG and a Barça right now.
Highest net spend on transfers last 5 years (21/22-25/26) in Europe's Top 5 Leagues:
1) Man United: -€780m
2) Arsenal: -€769m
3) Chelsea: -€738m
4) Tottenham: -€670m
5) PSG: -€567m
6) Newcastle: -€492m
7) Liverpool: -€486m
8) Man City: -€459m
9) Nottingham Forest: -€379m
10) West Ham: -€368m
Absolutely crazy to think that 3 of these teams are currently 16th, 17th and 18th in the Premier League.
They can complain about injuries and poor managerial appointments, but they've also made some terrible transfer decisions.
