***THREAD***
Moderation thread just to clarify on the KS2 Teacher Assessment Guidance that was released back in Nov 2018 - hopefully this should remedy a few misunderstandings I'm seeing on here
A simple but really effective question to encourage children to find evidence I've been using recently is 'how does the author achieve this'. We don't like Miss Trunchbull when she's introduced. Rather than 'why' using 'how does the author achieve this' makes chn search much more
Always find it good to all moderate the same piece and have a quick discussion re what everyone thinks- at the start- to ensure consistency of approach. Also- as well as moderating and saying what standard a collection is, I always ask for next steps for each pupil too x
Hey! It's that time of year to remind everyone that explicit grammar teaching linked to writing, *can* enrich kids' writing. Grammar gives children tools to manipulate words, sentences, paragraphs in ways they haven't thought of by themselves.
(Yes, even fronted adverbials.)
Often asked about how KS2 progress will be measured for Y5 (no KS1 Levels):
- Won’t know until autumn 2020
- Probably assign values to KS1 TA to generate PAGs
- there will be fewer PAGs
- VA will be even less accurate than now
- DfE may regret not collecting KS1 scaled scores
Some interesting ideas about ‘Whole Class Feedback’, ‘Comparative Judgements’ and how to teach sentence structure tonight with @daisychristo Thanks @SchVillage for having us.
Wonderful morning working with Olivia, talking everything EYFS! Collaboration is powerful. Great vision and I cannot wait to see how it develops. A definite future SLE! #collaboration#mountsorrelprimary@DLATSchools
