Mourners gathered on the lawn of the United States Capitol Building for the annual National Peace Officers' Memorial Service yesterday in remembrance of the officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.  The families of Officer Aréanah Preston, Officer Andrés Vásquez Lasso, and Detective Todd Gillerlain were invited to place a flower in the memorial wreath as CPD members escorted them.

The officer was intentionally run over by a coward driving a semi truck.
