@SethAbramson So you’re saying the cop killed themself? Because that’s the only way there’s confusion about what happened here. The stabbing suspect was shot by a police officer. Clunky, but not wrong. The word ‘suspect’ is the clue. If stabber and shooter were the same, no need for ‘suspect’
@Wesingardner@3YearLetterman We should be grateful. Just like @jackassworld and @JokersTBS once too many people are aware of the joke, the joke is never as funny again. The longer they stay ignorant, the longer we get the LOLs
I built a 200,000+ audience in 18 months.
This took me from no-name college kid to startup Chief Revenue Officer.
5 lessons (that you need to hear):
1) Show vs. Tell
Too many people tell you they're great. You stand out by proving it. In September 2020, I had 500 followers and spent 10 hours inhaling @rabois podcasts. Keith retweeted it which was my big break.
Do the work before you expect a reward.
2) Embrace the Cringe
Creating content will be embarrassing. Your stuff will suck. And no one will read it. But remember that no one actually cares about you. And this is incredibly freeing. It means no one is thinking about you. So don't make decisions based on what they think.
3) Content Creates Luck
I met @JoinMeow's CEO @arvanaghi from a Jeff Bezos tweet. Most hope for luck. Content creates it by attracting interesting people to you. You never know who's reading.
4) Become a Learning Machine
Jeff Bezos had no experience building a trillion dollar company before he did it. You figure it out by being a learning machine. Run experiments. Rapidly Iterate. Be a sponge with mentors 2 steps ahead of you.
5) Eat the Humble Pie
Long-term excellence is about being a little less dumb everyday. Awards and titles are nice but they blind you from what matters.
The more you focus on how little you know, the quicker you'll grow.

Some people chase excellence. Other people chase comfort. Those who chase excellence are ok not being comfortable. Those who chase comfort are ok not being excellent. Discomfort is the price of excellence. Mediocrity is the price of comfort.
@Adweek It’s damaging to the Twitter/X brand, yes. But it also exposes marketing strategies that have overinvested in managed assets & channels they don’t own. Time for brands to move toward an owned asset first approach so impulsive moves by platforms don’t take you down with it. #OAO
Be intentional with who you surround yourself with and you'll begin to see results faster and closer to your ultimate goals. You can also start to think about which of these roles you serve for others. Now, for the big test, what roles did I miss?
A couple facts I know: 1) we are all the #hero in our own individual #herosjourney. More on this another day. 2) It's up to us to "architect" our supporting cast. Different people for different roles. Here are 11 "types" of people we all need in our lives—in no particular order.
You don't need all of these roles in your life all the time, but I've found it helps to take inventory of who you have at any given time. If you're feeling like something's missing, maybe it's because you have a mentor when you need a coach, or a friend when you need a teacher.
