Got Flat Plates?
One type of breakage mostly seen in ATV and Off-Road applications is called “Plate Wear”. As the chain wears, the rounded tops and bottoms of the plate can wear flat. If this wear is excessive it can cause the chain to break while the chain is under load.

Can you lift your chain off the back of your sprocket?
This called Chain Flotation and is a warning sign of chain elongation. Elongation occurs as chains age and the internal pins and components start to wear. The chain should either be adjusted or replaced soon.
