Great, Good and Gruesome Businesses. A very important concept for investors!
Great Businesses- Very High and Rising ROCE and ROE. Typically companies which don't need capital to keep growing. For example- Nestle, Hindustan Unilever, etc
Good Businesses- Which generate above average Return On Capital but need to consistently keep reinvesting capital to grow the business. For example- HDFC Bank
Gruesome Businesses- Businesses whose return on capital is below the cost of capital (essentially destroying capital). Most commodity businesses fail to generate return on capital above the cost of capital over the long run.

Work, people, work.
Work for the salaries of govt employees.
Work for their pensions.
Work for their medical benefits in and after service.
And that's not enough.
Work to pay the bribes they need to work.
