Swipe for a glimpse into elk hunting in New Mexico.
@YETICoolers ambassador Fred Campbell trades Quebec’s forests for New Mexico’s high desert, taking on his first spot-and-stalk elk hunt with a muzzleloader on land RMEF helped conserve.
Film drops TOMORROW at 8AM MST on RMEF YOUTUBE.
Hunting is Conservation Reason: #18
Hunters generate funding for scientific wildlife research. In 2025 alone, RMEF allocated over $1.3 million that will leverage $6.5 million in partner funding for elk and other wildlife research in 13 states and two projects of national benefit.
In fall, elk face a tradeoff: migrate now and leave much-needed foliage behind, or stay and risk traveling through early storm snow. #ElkFactFriday

Bull elk bugle to show off their fitness to cows, to warn other bulls to stay away, or to announce they're ready to fight. What do you think this guy is saying?

This October, ROUND UP at Walmart to support RMEF!
For years, RMEF has partnered with National Fish and Wildlife Foundation through Acres for America to conserve wildlife habitat, improve public access and protect working lands across the country. When you round up your purchases on https://t.co/2sTlnL4fjj or in the Walmart app through October 31, your donation helps fund future projects that benefit big game range and migration corridors, forests, grasslands and places to enjoy the outdoors.
Together, we’ve worked on projects such as the 54,636-acre Cumberland Forest in Kentucky and the 47,175-acre Windermere Hills in Nevada.
We’re proud to join the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation and Walmart in Conserving America's Big Game. Thank you for rounding up!
Do Not Disturb! Post-rut bulls often prioritize recovery and may select habitats that reduce disturbance risk, even if forage quality is not optimal. #ElkFactFriday

In 1984, four elk hunters founded the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation to ensure the future of elk. Since then, RMEF has conserved or enhanced more than 9 million acres of big game habitat!
And we're not slowing down. One square mile a day. Over 10 million acres by 2030.

Federal court hearings are ongoing right now in Montana this morning about three different wolf cases, including one where activists want Northern Rockies wolves relisted despite their multi-decade stability and growth under state management. @RMEF is in attendance.
Hunting is Conservation: Reason #17
Hunting helps balance wildlife populations with what the land can support, limits crop damage and assists with disease management.
We're restoring Big Game Country in central Utah.
In the Gooseberry drainage, water-hungry pinyon and juniper have been crowding out the sagebrush that elk, mule deer and many other species depend on. RMEF and its partners have removed these undesirable conifers from tens of thousands of acres. Sagebrush, native grasses and mountain brush can now reclaim the hillsides, ensuring better habitat for elk, deer, turkey, grouse and more.
