Speaking from lived experience and feminist analysis, Rumbidzayi Makoni of @ActionAid International laid bare the truth: Africa’s water crisis is rooted in structural injustice, chronic underfinancing, and the exclusion of women from decision-making. Her call was bold and urgent, finance WASH as a public good, recognize and reduce unpaid care work, and institutionalize women’s leadership to reclaim water as dignity, equity, and power.

The debt crisis is a feminist issue. Debt repayment in 25 African countries surpasses education spending, and 34 countries spend more on external debt servicing than health/education, disproportionately impacting women. We must address these inequalities.
