@Q2turnQueen @_LittleNurse I felt this. I feel like social skills/ professional skills in a working environment haven’t been developed. They don’t know how to engage with people outside their age group and have a very unrealistic expectation of the working environment.

I’m struggling so much at this new job. I’m essentially the CRN, manager and educator and yet I have no time to actually plan/ do anything. All upper management is suggesting is “get creative”

@j_thePA I started a new job in April, they closed 2 units & did layoff before I started. I’m managing a med surg unit that’s been so neglected the nurses don’t even know what they don’t know. They just cut RTs, and sent an email to staff asking them to come up with ways to save money!!!

Patient stable enough for overflow unit, CRYING because they were being moved. Going from private room to private room. Alert oriented independent EDD 1-2. I will never understand why people are this dramatic. 27 y/o manager having to speak to 57 y/o patient who is losing it

I’m curious, how many beds does your manager manage? I’ve been doing 72 beds with 120 staff member and I don’t understand how this is a reasonable portfolio. I’m literally drowning

Met with all 4 of my regular CRNs. 2 were amazing really open to ideas and suggestions, 1 couldn’t care less and had no insight, 1 said she has no joy in this role but can’t leave. How do I support my staff when half my CRNs are can support themselves

took on a interim management position on my unit till we get someone permanent. all I can say. This is so hard. Managing 120+ employees is crazy, I don’t have a scheduler or an assistant. I wish I could be more helpful on the floor but I’m stuck in my office. I just feel defeated

@bananabagbabe Nope not a requirement but additionally because it isn’t and I have both my critical care certification and ACLS. I am not allowed to give meds or initiate any of the medical directives in an emergency situation because as a med/ surg that would be outside of my scope
