Historian Teishan Latner says Rubio’s Cuba report could serve two purposes: criminalizing U.S. social justice movements and laying the groundwork for possible military action against Cuba.

Fernando Cerimedo built the disinformation machine behind the far right’s wins from Argentina to Bolivia to Honduras — with technology and money from Trump’s own operatives.
Now he’s in a Bolivian jail, charged with trying to have his ex-partner killed. https://t.co/OOPXxADZbB
In retirement, the former President of Chile, @GabrielBoric, says, 'The fanaticism of moderation, in the end, leads nowhere'. He is right. To be centrist and moderate, to be so accommodating to the capitalist system leaves the Left and Centre-Left unable to use governmental power to build the historical bloc of the working class to root itself with social power. Coming up next year, a dossier from @tri_continental on the three forms of power (social power, governmental power, state power).
🇻🇪 New from Drop Site: Chavista stronghold in Caracas warns US is planning operation to crush grassroots resistance
Leaders of Caracas’s "23 de Enero" parish say they have been warned that US agencies are preparing a “large-scale operation” to root out their leadership and dismantle decades of community organizing, Juan Contreras of the Simón Bolívar Coordinator told Drop Site.
A hilltop parish of public housing blocks near Miraflores Palace, 23 de Enero is a legendary bastion of popular struggle, from resistance to the Pérez Jiménez dictatorship to the armed movements of the 1960s-80s. Its residents helped return Chávez to power during the 2002 US-backed coup. Today it runs communes, soup kitchens, radio stations, and self-governing collectives, making it one of the last strongholds of independent popular power in what critics describe as US-occupied Venezuela.
Contreras said Washington intends to “falsely link social organizations with drug trafficking and crime,” the same playbook used to justify the January 3 abduction of President Nicolás Maduro.
“The accusations of narcoterrorism are a blatant lie that the U.S. used as an excuse to steal our oil and mineral wealth,” he said. Organizers said the “war on drugs” is a smokescreen to break the movements Contreras calls “the cornerstones of the Bolivarian Revolution.”

Delcy is a much more clever version of Lenin Moreno who campaigned saying Rafael Correa was the best president Ecuador ever had but then vilified Correa as soon as he took office.
Some more information on the major Trump-Rodríguez oil deal being put out by unofficial sources. There's a bit more clarity on what things will look like, because with Trump there's always less than meets the eye. So here's a thread that recaps where we stand
Trump "generously" buying billions of barrels of Venezuelan oil at less than 5% its market price. He's stealing their oil for his own family and cronies' profit. Guessing this may be used as a chip to manipulate the midterms.
These are some of the largest crimes of our lifetimes
Vultures unionizing. With Venezuela's debt restructuring process advancing behind the scenes, creditors form committees to maximize the blood they can squeeze out of the deal

🇨🇺 Marco Rubio’s frustration is simple: his blockade hasn’t bent us an inch.
This video says it all—our people dancing to Billie Jean during a blackout. Rubio dreamed of desperation; we gave him resilience. No one will take away our pride and joy of being Cuban.
My good friend @BenjaminRSwift and I's latest piece on the escalating state repression and war on drugs in Bolivia, backed by the Trump administration.
Going after opposition is just the beginning. For the International Business Times.

Cubans creating a private garbage collection company because #Trump’s oil blockade has paralysed the state garbage collection sector. People are charged a very small fee while the vulnerable are given the service for free. #Cuba
Havana has a garbage problem. El Rampeño has a solar-powered solution.
Meet the Cuban initiative using renewable energy to collect garbage with tricycles in the face of fuel shortages caused by the U.S. oil blockade.
Fidel Castro, the night after JFK was shot: Oswald is a patsy, the far right pulled the trigger, and Americans themselves must demand the truth.
The next morning, Oswald was murdered in a police basement.
More sovereignty-undermining humiliation. Looks like the Venezuelan gold in the UK will finally be unfrozen, but instead of being handed to the country's authorities, the (corresponding) funds will go to the US Treasury and then be disbursed pending the approval of the imperial overlords while being subjected to "auditing firms"
