Macklemore turned an Ed Sheeran opener at MetLife into a political rally, and the backlash is not hard to understand.
He was opening for Sheeran at a packed stadium, he told the crowd he took the tour so he could stand on American stages and yell “Free Palestine.”
Then he stacked on Lebanon, Cuba, the Congo, Sudan, and Iran, called ICE a “terrorist organization,” and performed Hind’s Hall while Gaza footage and protest imagery rolled on the jumbotrons.
Israeli concertgoers said it felt like an ambush, understandably!
The Israeli-American Council has since petitioned Sheeran and the tour to drop him from the remaining dates, arguing this was a concert, not an activist event.
He put “Free Iran” in the same chant as “Free Palestine,” as if the Islamic Republic is just another oppressed underdog and not the group that hangs protesters, and treats women like property.
He also ranted about his hate for ICE and I’m confused by this since he never said a word when Obama had children sleeping on the floors of glorified dog kennels.
If the agency only becomes “terror” when the other team holds the White House, that is not principle🤔 that’s hypocrisy!
Tens of thousands paid to see Ed Sheeran, not to sit through a one sided political rant, and If you use someone else’s stadium to lecture 80,000 people, do not act shocked when part of the crowd walks out DISGUSTED and demand you never perform again.
@drhossamsamy65 little bit to late for him to stands for Palestine
He was hanging out with Iranians pro Israel made him Iranian music ( Azizam )right when Israel attacked Iran

Earlier this month, Ed Sheeran dropped his new single ‘Azizam’, Persian for ‘my darling’. The song already features Iranian melodies, instruments, and vocals from Iranian pop legends like Arash and Andy. Ed Sheeran also said that a full Farsi version of Azizam is even on the way.
This might’ve surprised some listeners, but for many Iranians, it felt like a breakthrough. And this isn’t a one-off 👇

On October 7, the Islamo-Nazi terror entity, in its entirety, lost any right to remain on the Western coast of the Negev known as the Gaza Strip.
This news item about the students from Gaza begging Putin to rescue them, encapsulates the folly of the Israeli “security” mindset and the tragedy we continue to inflict upon ourselves.
Here’s the simple truth our leadership refuses to see: an overwhelming majority of Gaza’s residents just want to leave. They have no interest in remaining inside this terrorist ruin; they want a future and a life, and they’re looking for any crack they can slip through to emigrate – from Russia to Canada.
There’s no shortage of countries that would take them in – Russia is opening its doors to students, Somaliland, Egypt, Canada, Ireland, Scotland, France, England and other countries. But those who want us dead prefer to keep them in Gaza to use as a battering ram against us. And the most infuriating absurdity? The State of Israel is the one preventing them from leaving. Instead of providing them with an orderly exit mechanism, instead of opening an internationally funded one-way maritime route for anyone who wants to permanently emigrate, we’ve turned ourselves into our enemies’ collaborators. We enable holding them by force inside the Strip and thereby provide Hamas with its eternal human shield.
There’s no contradiction whatsoever between Jewish morality and our national and security interests. The most moral, correct, and strategic act is encouraging voluntary emigration. Anyone who wants to study in Moscow – be on your way, and anyone who wants to start a new life elsewhere – good for you.
Every Gazan who chooses to leave weakens terrorism and brings the day of victory that much closer. Instead of their imploring the Kremlin, the Israeli government should announce today: the exit from Gaza is wide open – with a one-way ticket. Gaza must return to being sovereign Jewish land, and as long as there is one Gazan who wants to leave, it’s our supreme duty to enable them to do so.
A long-overdue step: the UK finally acts on illegal settlements.
UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband has announced an import ban on goods from illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories — plus sanctions on those who finance, build, or advertise settlement expansion.
This is more than a trade measure. For the first time, the British government has stated that the occupation as a whole is unlawful.Miliband put it plainly:
“The British government has rightly said settlements are illegal, but we have remained silent on the question of the legality of the occupation as a whole.”
“The government believes the unlawfulness of the occupation should be reflected in the economic relationships we choose to have with the occupied territories.”
Settlements steal land, fragment Palestinian communities, and make a viable Palestinian state harder every year. They are illegal under international law. Treating them as normal commerce was never neutral — it was complicity.
The announcement comes after years of Palestinian families watching olive groves uprooted, homes demolished, and settler violence go unpunished. It has already drawn backlash from the Israeli and American administrations. That reaction tells you how much this policy shift matters.
This will not end the occupation overnight. Implementation will take months. Broader accountability is still needed. But refusing to profit from stolen land is a basic moral line.
Palestinians have waited decades for governments to match their words on international law with actual consequences. Today the UK took one of those steps.
End the occupation. Respect Palestinian rights. No more business as usual with illegal settlements.
