@AroundWrldSocr@AlexiLalas Yes. FIFA statutes require Training Compensation and Solidarity Payments be made to clubs that developed younger players when those players sign pro contracts up until certain ages. US Soccer has BLOCKED those payments on fake pretenses, and FIFA has looked the other way.
@AroundWrldSocr@AlexiLalas Why? Because central planning and socialism works so well in every other area it is tried? How did that US Soccer Development Academy effort work out?
No. Let funds flow to quality instead of quantity as they do everywhere else in the world for developing talent.
@Daniel_Wylde_@AlexiLalas MLS is not the issue, and pro/rel is financial suicide at the top.
If you want to implement pro/rel at all of the youth and amateur levels, then I'm 100% on your team. This is where the real impact comes in. Reduced travel costs, every game is competitive, & merit is rewarded.
@AlexiLalas Well, it SHOULD be funded by the Solidarity and Training Compensation owed to clubs that do an exceptional job developing young talent...but that requires getting US Soccer to finally follow FIFA's mandates. Any ideas on how we make that happen?
@DolphinMossad I've been on this for 30 years now. The current system means the only way to make more money as a youth club is to get BIGGER. In the rest of the world, the only way to make more money in youth soccer is to be BETTER. FIFA has to impose this on US Soccer once and for all.
@tancredipalmeri Not a rule change at all. Simply undoing a suspension received because a ref crew clearly violated procedures set in advance. Massive difference.
@DrewPavlou Very true. May true Australian patriots step up soon to take back your country, before the chance is lost forever. I've never seen a free country fall so far, so fast. As for this tournament, Iran and Australia were the only two countries I 100% wanted to go home. Shameful.
@mgarbowski@bob_morocco Pretty much anyone on the team. I love CP, but know your limits. Frankly, he should have refused to take them knowing that there were better people to do it, and knowing he should be near the receiving end of the services.
@bob_morocco Greg did a ton of things right that I don't think people give him credit for. BUT, I never understood why he let CP take free kicks and corners. It was such an obvious blind spot for him. My TV is glad I'm not yelling at it any more about this.
@shipwreckedcrew Lots of issues with the red card, but the first one is the fact that Balogun was pushed from behind while in the air, and that is the entire reason he came down awkwardly. If there is a foul to call, it is the initial push by the Bosnian player, not Balogun's fall to Earth.
@Pras_fpl I've been in the game for nearly 50 years & never heard this suggestion before. I actually like it quite a lot. The team with the advantage might still sit in to defend, but the attackers would have to take risks and take shots instead of just passing around the midfield line.
@schadjoe Once defenders drop ever deeper, MF space becomes cavernous, which means it gets bypassed. You'll have 5 defenders and 5 attackers and kickball in between. The game will be completely unrecognizable as a result. Get the "even is on" application correct; don't ruin the game. 2/2
@schadjoe Respect to Arsene, but this is a TERRIBLE idea, especially when combined with the existing DOGSO rules. Offside has proven to be necessary for attacking soccer & lines have to be drawn somewhere. Defenders can NOT allow attackers behind them; they will have to drop deeper. 1/2
@EricBalchunas The offside law has changed many times. It started needing 3 players closer to the defensive goal, then 2 closer, then "even is on" (the current rule). The NASL trialed a 35-yard line. Every other experiment has REDUCED scoring because defenders stay back and don't help attack.
@RealManSports Offside originally required 3 players, not 2, closer to their own goal line. The rule was simplified early on and then there were experiments to use a "35-yard line" zone only. The current rule has proven to yield the best version of the game, balancing space in attack + defense.
