I wrote up a blog post recapping the music I released in 2024! Testing out a new format for these; you can listen to each song and read a short commentary 🙂 Please give it a read!

@dessbian I recognize that, and due to the scarcity of info we have on the two, there's some interpretive work to be done. For whatever reason, the game puts much more emphasis on their friendship than siblinghood. But you're right—that doesn't exclude that part of their dynamic entirely.
@dessbian It's not WRONG, it's just not the whole story. For that reason, I'm not sure it's the most reliable detail on how the characters personally related to one another. First-person accounts/references are more valuable for character analysis.
@dessbian True, the New Home monologue is meant to give a wide view of the story. That's the 'history book' version, so to speak. But we learn much more about this dynamic later in the game, such as the VHS tapes.
@LazyNick5 @ma_dboy @Ratarang1@fern7117@Ragingsword29 Well, yes! They were part of the royal family. That's clear from Gerson's stories as well, no disagreement there. Rather, my point was that Asriel and Chara's relationship was "best friends" first—it's how they always refer to each other in-game and in supplemental material.
Well, for the record, I am on 🦋 #Bluesky and 🐘 #Mastodon. Masto’s my home if the ship sinks but Bsky’s there since it seems to be everyone’s favorite right now:

@fern7117 @ma_dboy @Ratarang1@Ragingsword29 If it had no deeper meaning, why would Toby even bother putting it in? He has always been very picky about the way he talks about these two characters. (Also, it’s even a touchy subject to Toriel, who just refers to the human as “someone” in the Alarm Clock dialogue)
@fern7117 @ma_dboy @Ratarang1@Ragingsword29 That’s a valid interpretation. However, the number of references from the human to Dreemurrs that are either non-familial or hesitantly so is too many to be a coincidence. Just because it’s tied to the locket doesn’t make it invalid for character analysis.
