We are pleased to welcome Mustapha Shehu and Ibrahim Muhammad Illo to #CITOI2021 from the Nigerian Upstream Regulatory Commission. They assess the nexus between oilfield chemical management & control practices in Nigeria driven by the NUPRC and its alignment with the Convention.

Continuing this morning’s #CITOI21 #Regulatory and #Economics theme, environmental toxicologist Charles Ake @bakerhughesco now presents the existing challenges of the Malabo Protocol, proposing opportunities to advance the mission of the Abidjan Convention.

It’s big news but need to be clear that methane reductions are not a substitute for CO2 elimination from energy system. Both are required. There should not be trade-offs between these these sources of warming.
