A Right to Information (RTI) query has revealed that Kiran Kumar Bondar, the former joint director of higher education, Pune division, procured various materials offline spending more than the stipulated amount. He also submitted bills for petrol while he used a diesel vehicle. It is mandatory to use the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) Public Procurement Portal for the procurement of goods and services for all central and state government ministries, departments, public sector units (PSUs), and affiliated agencies. The GeM endeavours to make the public procurement process transparent, efficient, and inclusive.
Speaking to Pune Mirror, Abhishek Haridas, the RTI applicant, said, “Kiran Kumar Bondar is now transferred to the Nanded division, but during his tenure, he was allowed to procure materials beyond his purchasing limits. LED bulbs, computer printers, toner, motherboard, service of website handling charges, page rims for printing, chairs, and photocopy bills amounting to more than Rs 3 lakh were submitted. “All these details were provided by the directorate of the higher education office following an RTI application.
