@Dale_Chu@JonHaidt@andersoncooper@AC360 As someone from a school board that provided laptops to students, I found it incredibly beneficial as every student got the same opportunities to do their work. With this take, I wonder if a reason why overall performance is dropping in education is due to inequities in access?
This photo really captures how procrastinating can cause stress, and how pushing things off can create further issues down the line. It is better to get what you need to get done first, then you can relax, and it won’t cause stress. #EM203Robin
@SDLBACK I agree with this argument! Youth are quite reliant on their phones these days & I believe schools should help them unplug/disconnect.
What do you think the long-term effects of phones in schools will have on youth compared to those who may not be able to access such technology?
My interpretation of this image by Stephen Mwangi is a visual representation of how someone without access to technology - or what's new - may feel when comparing themselves to their peers who can access such technologies.

In this source from OECD, it describes the "digital divide" and the key messages that everyone should be aware of as we evolve in this digital age. Their website is a great resource in navigating this divide and the issues it brings.

Interesting point. AI is discouraged in school but increasingly expected in the workplace. I think the focus should be on learning how to use AI responsibly, not avoiding it completely. #EM203Robin#EM203Research
Let me break it down for everyone 👇🏼
Everyone is upset that an Ontario judge said you can’t just keep displacing homeless people.
Here’s an idea: stop complaining about homeless people and start demanding governments actually house people. Then maybe the courts wouldn’t have to step in to protect basic human rights.
You can’t oppose encampments, oppose supportive housing, oppose shelters, oppose affordable housing, oppose mental health supports and then complain that homelessness still exists.
You don’t solve homelessness by pushing people from one sidewalk to another. You solve it by giving people somewhere to go.
It is interesting to me that I have spotted more and more educators commenting on the increasing amounts of technology in classrooms. From what I have seen, there is a vocal community who rejects and pushes back against digital technology in education.

"In my final year in the classroom, it became clear to me that was a mistake. I saw that, especially for students with the greatest challenges, tech was a hindrance to their learning. If I was still teaching, laptops would only make an occasional appearance." https://t.co/C5BRp5FyLC
In Addressing the Digital Divide: Access and Use of Technology in Education, the authors discuss the "digital divide", the inequities with technology access that result in challenges that impact students' education.

@mahek1201 The concept map you have created does well in opening a discussion on the obesity crisis amongst young adults. I believe an approach on how people can utilize technology to "take control of their body/health" would do wonders in creating awareness.

@EM203AlekT Your concept map does a great job in plotting out how online fitness misinformation leads to different influences. The part I resonate most with is how misinformation can lead to unhealthy or unsafe practices in order to stay "fit" or "healthy"!

@EM203MLannutti With your concept map, I like how you cover unrealistic relationship standards. I think a good concept to also cover is how media content such as pranks and skits normalize misdeeds such as cheating, DV, and unrealistic goals within relationships.

@EM203ArjunS In your concept map, a good topic could be how generative AI reaffirms systemic biases that harm people within marginalized communities. AI will rely on historical practices in its responses, and colonial/systemic issues are engrained in our systems.

@EM203MLannutti The content in EM203 has been quite fun, I definitely agree on that! We have learned many fundamentals and it is exciting to think about what will be taught in future lessons.
@EM203ArjunS EM203 has been interesting so far and I agree that it has helped in my own critical thinking about the digital world and learning. We have had great opportunities provided that allow us to see how those tools are used, and how collaboration and multitasking affect the process.
@EM203ASchlitt The course has been quite enjoyable and informative so far! The internet is an intriguing tool and it is a technology I am sure will only continue to grow as we do. I also liked learning about how technology is used in our learning and how it has changed our access to material.
