This is such an exaggeration, while it is the best model I’ve used, it’s not by the landslide you’re saying. Code quality and task adherence is great, however no where near 100x of opus, plus the churning time is significantly longer.
Learning how to use smaller models to produce same quality result will be a skill in and of itself in the next few months and one anyone seriously working with AI for any use case should be striving for. The mindset of just waiting for the next model to solve it or do it better is not the approach people should be taking.
Am I the only one who feels like there’s been no different between Opus 4.6 and 4.8 for coding?
Maybe slightly less mistakes?
Unless the codebase I’m working in is just too complex for me to notice a big jump like we saw from 4 -> 4.5

@MattStopa@jaegermedia1 I haven’t but I mean doesn’t MIT have to maintain his affiliation? Idk, I think there’s a benefit to them maintaining the affiliation with him and his following as much as it is a benefit to him.
@anthony_harley1 The biggest upside if you have the ability to switch between any model you want. Especially with the new agent windows, it’s really bridged the gap with Claude code for me
This is it.

Why does everyone think the world has been getting worse?
Every year on this Earth, I’ve felt it was better than the last. I’m very optimistic about the upcoming years.
@Austen Yes,
M4 max 128gb of ram, not the m3 ultra maxed out, but currently running multiple local models, helping out some friends with their own business utilize the inferencing power instead of having to use APIs. No complaints.
@Austen Thinking back to first C1 stand up is mind-boggling, even though you saw it coming, I don’t think anyone could have imagined the progress we have seen over the past year. Incredibly grateful for @gauntletai can’t imagine not being a part of the journey.
My proposal for Meek Mill:
I’ll fly you to Austin (private jet + 5-star everything).
My team of instructors will train you in AI personally.
We rally with the team putting AI in classrooms for thousands with Texas Sports Academy (free in Texas w vouchers).
I’m 100% serious.
For the past few cohorts Gauntlet AI has required 3+ years engineering experience to qualify and get our $200k+ jobs.

We know there are a few cracked "Wunderkind" out there.
We need you.
We're opening slots for great engineers even with ZERO professional experience.
