Sir Alex Ferguson will probably always win the argument as the Premier League’s greatest manager thanks to that longevity and the extra silverware which came with it.
But Pep Guardiola is surely the most transformative, owing to the way his style, and variations on it, has been adopted across the nation from grassroots to top flight.
History tells us that certain managers at certain clubs are simply impossible to follow, and Guardiola’s impact at Manchester City surely puts him in that bracket.

🚨🚨🗣️ Alejandro Garnacho on what went wrong for him at Manchester United:
“I remember in the last six months I was just NOT PLAYING like before at Manchester United.
“I started to be on the bench, it’s not [such a] bad thing, I was only 20 years old, but in my mind it was like I had to play EVERY game.
“In my mind, maybe it is also on me, I started to do some BAD things. But yes, it was just this moment in life and sometimes you have to make decisions…
“With United, I have NOTHING wrong to say about the club, no one in the club or the teammates. It’s just a moment in life that change and life continues. I have no regrets.”

Jurgen Klopp says he was “blessed” to inherit James Milner at Liverpool.
Manuel Pellegrini, who was his head coach at Manchester City, once remarked: “It’s very difficult to find another Milner - an intelligent player with big balls and a massive heart.”
Now at Brighton, more than 23 years on from his senior debut, Milner is making history. At the age of 40, he has just equalled Gareth Barry’s record of 653 Premier League appearances.
He has always been more interested in his day-to-day statistics - his high-intensity running, number of sprints, lactose levels - than the record books, even if breaking one particular record became a motivation in the early days...

🚨🌳 Stefan Ortega to Nottingham Forest, here we go! Verbal agreement in place for the goalkeeper.
Permanent move from Manchester City, short term contract and all set for the last minute move.
Ortega already said yes to #NFFC as medical booked, as @Plettigoal reports. All set.
In the 96th minute, 3-2 up against Real Madrid, Jose Mourinho and his Benfica didn't 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 they needed to score again to make it into the knockout round of the Champions League.
They were wasting time. Mourinho had subbed off his front four. Then someone on the Benfica bench realised and they started screaming their players on.
They got a free-kick, way out on the right and the clocked edged towards the 98th minute. The coaches waved at Anatoliy Trubin, their goalkeeper, to get up into the Real Madrid penalty area.
The classic Hail Mary. The desperation move. It never works.
But... it did. The cross went in. The world slowed down. Trubin jumped and made some contact, any kind of contact. And somehow the ball went in.
This bit of Lisbon turned into a mass of bodies, limbs, emotions. Trubin ran back in that way goalkeepers do when they’ve scored a goal: they have no idea what to do, because they’ve never done it before.
The look on his face was astonishment, almost confusion.
