FIFA should be ashamed of itself.
Allowing the USA & Trump administration, to turn the World Cup into a platform for political games is an insult to football, to the fans, and to the spirit of the tournament.
The World Cup is supposed to unite the world through sport, not be used as a stage for dirty politics and embarrassment. FIFA’s leadership has failed badly, and those responsible should be held accountable.
This is quickly becoming one of the biggest embarrassments in World Cup history.
Despite everything that has happened in the last two decades, not a single northern state has outlawed or at least attempted to phase out Almajiranci. The number of out of school children remains staggering.
Our problems will not go away even if we sack the President.
The commercialization of ‘kidnapping for ransom’ is becoming an epidemic. This has spread beyond the bandits, any low life now sees it as an easy cash cow
I wonder if we have a Northern Development Plan for the next 50 years and if individual states have also developed one and regularly review them. No meaningful development happens without a plan
General Yakubu Gowon's administration actually conceptualized the Sokoto-Badagry highway as one of the critical economic corridors in the Second National Development Plan of 1970-1974. We are actually 55 years late on getting off the project.
Mallam Nasiru has been in detention for over 100 days. Yet, members of his highly influential circle, people with the capacity to send shockwaves across the country are maintaining table manners!
You can now pre-order Abdulsalami's much-awaited autobiography
General Abdulsalami Abubakar, the military head of state who oversaw Nigeria’s transition to democracy 27 years ago, is set to release ‘Call of Duty’, his autobiography, when he marks his 84th birthday on June 13, 2026.
Abdulsalami tells the enthralling story of the transition to democracy in 1999 at a time the country was on the edge following a prolonged crisis sparked off by the annulment of the June 12, 1993 presidential election

Still on Abdulsalami Abubakar as the unlikeliest military head of State in Nigeria’s history:
It is said that when he took over as Head of State after Abacha’s death on June 8, 1998, one of the documents he found in Abacha’s office was a retirement list with his name on it, awaiting Abacha’s approval.
Despite being a senior member of Abacha’s government, he was in many ways an outsider. Not part of the ruling cabal in any way. They kept him out.
He was a soldier who hated politics - and bloodshed. It is said that he refused to wear the Abacha badge that many officers wore back then (as a sign of loyalty), and also fearlessly associated with Obasanjo and IBB - who had both fallen out with Abacha.
Ya Allah, bring peace to our nation, protect our children and their families, and safeguard their rights. Return those in captivity safely to their loved ones and bless our land with peace and security. Ameen. 🤲🏻
Everyone is carrying a burden you may never see. Some are fighting battles in silence, others are simply trying to make it through the day. Be kind, stay hopeful, and keep moving forward. No storm lasts forever. We will overcome.
@Moh__Sarkee At this point, even though I have my reservations, I think state policing might proffer some solution. Let every state man their borders, and seek the FG when things get overwhelming
