@thismorning The question needed asking tbf, but @MattHancock owned his mistake and didn’t give a typical MP ‘I’ll-say-everything-and-anything-except-answer-the-question’ answer
@maryward183@rianne088@netty_smith@AlisonHammond I didn’t. I’m suggesting that people who do use “them” and “us”, create the divide. I agree, we should treat everyone how we would like to be treated regardless of who they are. If you read my other comments - I am against racism.
@Ophelia_Tweet @rianne088@netty_smith@AlisonHammond Yes, I see your point. I just saw it as defending another person - it honestly wasn’t because she is white. Apologies.
@rianne088 @Ophelia_Tweet @netty_smith@AlisonHammond I haven’t been in your shoes and haven’t ever experienced the discrimination to that level, so I cannot say I know what the right thing is. I can have an opinion but happy to develop/ change that opinion by learning from people who have had the experience.
@Ophelia_Tweet @rianne088@netty_smith@AlisonHammond I’m happy to take that maybe I say things wrong and could be seen as racist, but, you’re right, I do not intend it to be racist. This is why am willing to learn. I just find it sad that when people defend others, they are then criticised.
@Ophelia_Tweet @rianne088@netty_smith@AlisonHammond I’m not taking offence. I would like to learn, as I don’t know what to say that is acceptable. I believe everyone is as important as the next person and nobody should be treated differently because of who they are or how they choose to be - but this is wrong?
@rianne088@netty_smith@AlisonHammond It’s a difficult topic, some people will believe one way is right and others, another. The intention, however, is the same. The colour of someone’s skin should not define how they are treated.
@Ophelia_Tweet @rianne088@netty_smith@AlisonHammond People don’t mean to, this in itself creates new political correctness. We end up not being able to say anything as it will offend/upset someone. People can’t describe POC as black because that’s considered racist but then we’re also racist when we say colour doesn’t matter.
@rianne088@netty_smith@AlisonHammond .. on us and we should reach our children that colour shouldn’t be a weapon to use. That’s how we correct history and educate.
@rianne088@netty_smith@AlisonHammond I told my girls about George Floyd, asked them to describe him. They didn’t see the colour of his skin because it didn’t matter to them, he was a man who had something terrible happen to him! (I understand the reasons behind that terror was because of his skin colour but that’s..
@piersmorgan I like you, think you speak the truth and tell people how it is but if you’re asking not to be silenced (rightly so, entitled to an opinion) surely everyone has that right!? Therefore, Harry and Meghan do so their interview is just airing what they feel. 🤷🏻♀️
@GMB she was a child and who knows what she’s actually been through or promised. Who knows whether she’s terrified of saying something that would get her killed! Bring her back, detain her, charge her but treat her fairly!!
