- Dr Farooq Haider, who is promoted to be Professor of Arabic and Islamic Studies;
- Dr Jamal Nasir, who is promoted to be Professor of Statistics;
- Dr Safdar Ali Mirza, who is promoted to be Professor of Botany; and
- Dr Raja Shahid Ashraf, who is promoted to be Professor of Chemistry.

@zaidia Now, this decision promises to provide a valuable training ground, equipping these students with the expertise to master their presentation and writing skills for jobs and fellowship applications. In my view, this initiative should be made mandatory for all MPhil/ PhD students.

Here are some clicks from the International symposium day, Co-Organized by Dunnicliff Chemical Society, GCUL and Functional Materials Research Group (FMRG), Department of Chemistry GCUL, under the supervision of Dr. Raja Shahid Ashraf.
Vice-chancellor GCU Prof. Dr. Asghar Zaidi gave his opening remarks to formally start the event.
The first half of the event covers the invited/Keynote talks of our guest speakers followed by a panel discussion and oral presentation of young Ph.D researchers in the later half.
A poster competition was also organised, sponsored by Printex, in which students from inter-universities also participated and presented their research work. The winners of the poster competition were encouraged with cash prizes.
