Official Twitter account of OU's Rapid X-band Polarimetric (RaXPol) Radar. Check back here for deployment updates, radar data, and images from our field ops!
Yesterday, we were able to document the formation and evolution of a potentially significant tornado and satellite near Braman, OK, with RaXPol. Huge thanks to the crew, @lshedd123, @Fra_De_Martin, and Dr. Howie Bluestein for a successful day of field ops!
We are scanning storms today near Union City, OK and are providing a live view of RaXPol on Youtube. Check it out here: https://t.co/83VbfIsRuc
Live data are also available here: https://t.co/wOnIhdM60Q
As part of a @forestservice field experiment, we collected RaXPol observations near a controlled burn in Florida! We were collocated with many other observing platforms that will be used to study the smoke properties, including lidar, solar, and particle and gas sensors.
Collecting RaXPol radar data in New York to support the NASA IMPACTS field campaign! @raxpol@ousom

Come join us for the 2022 National Weather Festival @WeatherFestival! You can check out our mobile radar trucks and learn about the exciting radar research being done at OU! Our partners at @CIWRO_ will also be flying drones called Coptersondes nearby!
The @RaXPol will be deploying on Hurricane Ian, along with @NOAANSSL radars, sounding units, and disdrometers! @UFGeog @ousom
Live data will be available here: https://t.co/LjqSYWrNJv
Partnering with @UFGeography, we hosted a virtual field experiment to let students from 11 different universities run the RaXPol! Thanks to all who participated! Stay tuned for another virtual field experiment next year (location/time TBD)! (1/2)
Students will get to decide which radar scans to use and learn about the pros and cons of different scanning strategy options. We'll discuss some exciting radar data and meteorology in real time! #NSF#flwx (2/2)
We are collecting some great observations of thunderstorms in Florida in collaboration with @UFGeog! This week, students from 8 different universities will participate in our first virtual, student-run field campaign! (1/2)
Students: It's not too late to register for the virtual RaXPol workshop on Wed from 2-5 PM CT! Students will plan a RaXPol field experiment to study sea breeze thunderstorms in Florida. You can virtually join the field experiment too!

We are hosting a student-led virtual workshop to plan a field experiment with the NSF CIF @RaXPol mobile radar in Florida on August 24! Students will work together to determine the science objectives and radar scanning strategies. Register here: https://t.co/FePsnc39eR (1/2)
Great to be part of this research team! The OU RaXPol and PX-1000 are pictured on the right along with the other NSF ESCAPE and ARM TRACER instruments.
