My father's tenth yartzeit starts tonight. I like that it begins with Maariv. He used to say the Shma with me at bedtime, then tell me fantastic stories of kabalistic angels masquerading as lions.
If you are interested in remembering him with me, please consider...
Good deeds: Listen to someone who needs to be heard; share a kind word to change someone’s life. Or learn with a friend! Study this week’s parsha, or a Chassidic tale or one of my father’s teachings. Share with us in the comments what you're reading, or ask for a recommendation.
Prayer: If you would like to pray but don’t have a regular practice of doing so, you can follow his guidance -- “If the only prayer you say throughout your life is ‘Thank You’, then that will be enough”.
Charity: Please consider following and supporting @eliewieselfdn. We are amplifying young moral voices, fighting hatred in the media, and connecting educational initiatives across the United States and Israel.
Thank you to all who continue his legacy in ways large and small.
Looks like a cutscene. Feels like a calling.

Today marks the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe against Nazi forces.
We remember the brave Canadians who brought democracy back to Europe from the frontline soldiers to the support elements.
Tom Brady and Snoop Dogg appear in powerful new antisemitism ad, funded by billionaire Robert Kraft.
“Man, I hate that things are so bad, that we have to do a commercial about it.”
Today, on Remembrance Day, I had the privilege of spending the morning with the amazing participants at @DANI_toronto Magnetic Campus. Taking a moment to honor Canada's heroes & reflect on the sacrifices made for our freedom. #RemembranceDay#LestWeForget#CanadaRemembers#CAF
As the sun goes down tonight, Jews will gather to mark Judaism’s holiest day of the year – Yom Kippur – a reminder of G-d’s eternal love and His timeless promises of mercy and justice to His people.
As the Jewish community faces a resurgence of antisemitism, we commit ourselves to making Canada a safer country where everyone can live and worship in peace and security.
G’mar Chatima Tova.
G'mar Chatima Tova.
Have you checked in on your buddies this week? Make sure to do a #BuddyCheck to remind our peers when times are difficult, we must be there for each other. Remind your loved ones they are not alone.

The most inspiring thing you’ll see today! 🇮🇱 Students at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine just learned that their medical school is now tuition free.
Can you imagine the feeling?!
Here’s the official story:
"Dr. Ruth Gottesman, the 93-year-old Jewish widow of a Wall Street financier has donated $1 billion to a Bronx medical school, the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, with instructions that the gift be used to cover tuition for all students going forward.
Dr. Ruth Gottesman is a former professor at Einstein, where she studied learning disabilities, developed a screening test and ran literacy programs. It is one of the largest charitable donations to an educational institution in the United States.
The fortune came from her late husband, David Gottesman, known as Sandy, who was a protégé of Warren Buffett. The Bronx is the poorest borough in NYC.
Dr. Gottesman said her donation would enable new doctors to begin their careers without medical school debt, which often exceeds $200,000. She also hoped it would broaden the student body to include people who could not otherwise afford to go to medical school. Dr. Gottesman's husband died in 2022 at age 96. "He left me, unbeknownst to me, a whole portfolio of Berkshire Hathaway stock," she recalled. The instructions were simple: "Do whatever you think is right with it," she recalled."

This is the Jewish spirit! 🇮🇱❤️
An act of pure loving kindness!
As Maimonides says, the greatest form of charity is education – enabling one to become independent and earn a living.
The silence is deafening.
I hope this powerful ad plays during the Super Bowl tonight in Canada, as it will in the US — serving as a reminder to us all to never be bystanders.
#NeverAgain is now.
