Agree with the comments noting the class element at play here. Alongside the usual ‘you’re all far right scum’ accusations against those who defended the girls, was the unspoken classism of the intellectual establishment.

I ended up turning off comments on my post about it because the condemnation, accusations and outright hate from liberal/leftists towards a CHILD was sickening.

Their default reaction was that she was a racist, feral, working class thug who was being aggressive towards poor migrants who were simply going about their day.

They simply refused to acknowledge that she may have been scared and defending herself.

This is now the immediate and accepted narrative from the British left… to defend predators at all cost if they belong to a minority group - even if it is at the expense of children’s safety.
