Stained glass and preventive conservator, church crawler and bell ringer. Often found searching for evidence of bats in churches or blogging about my adventures
Turns out I’ve found a happy place in repairing historic brick walls! Can’t wait to have another go. Now who has a wall I can practice on? #conservation#traditionalskills @SPAB1877
Thank you to Sheila Binns and @thevicsoc for a thoroughly enlightening lecture this evening on W.H. Crossland. Such a sad ending but I'll be buying the book! @RachelConserves
Another little-known Crossland church St. Stephen's at Copley @TheCCT@ExploreChurches@Ecclsoc
Our parish churches house artefacts worthy of the greatest museums💒🪦🗝️how on earth do we look after them?! Today is #AskAConservator day🎉👏we'll be exploring the challenges our historic churches face💦🪲🦇Heritage advisor @RachelConserves is here to answer q's so don't be shy!

Absolutely thrilled to see this going into place. It shows that bat boxes can look good and enhance a church interior, while protecting it and its bats. The new hatchment/batbox bears coats of arms relating to the churches history. Especially the Gostwick family and this monument
Lovely to be back @DioceseNorwich filming at All Saints, Thornham with @Wild_NEScot and @RachelConserves for the first of our two Norfolk,-based Virtual Bat Nights. Booking details will be up soon!
Exploring the industrial heritage of Rosedale Chimney Bank. A standard gauge railway was once used to transport valuable iron ore across the North York Moors. Now this ruinous viaduct is a lonely reminder of the past #NorthYorkmoors#abandonedrailways
@AnneDeak@gwimages_@BatsinChurches@TheCCT Poor things! They died of natural causes. They’ve been there for a while because the church hasn’t been opened since before lockdown!
