@AnnMemmott And just because you are including people with intellectual disabilities why would that make them any less empathetic? Family member of mine, no less empathetic - might show it differently but that's about affective not effective empathy.
@AnnMemmott The other thing I find interesting is that autism is dx personality first. Other conditions such as Downs etc, loosely have personality traits associated, but the physical are noticed first. Seems like we're doing this the other way around?
@AnnMemmott Such a useful paper. Makes me realize I can probably give up CFS as a label and accept it's just how being ND is for me. Quite challenging.
@milton_damian And none of us in my family, regardless of our extent of learning disabilities/difficulties and other disabilities want to be patronised.
@milton_damian I've never understood this. People seem to think we are incapable of being related to autistic folks with learning disabilities. Not true.
@AnnMemmott As ever, I would welcome the chance to work. As it is, one day a week volunteering with breaks for when I am really poorly, wipes me out for the week.
@MsJoBillington What sick-note culture? I've had ME for over 25 years and was denied benefits right at the beginning so never bothered to claim. Since then I've set up a charity (sadly since folded), volunteered, raised kids, fought with various people to get the kids the correct education..
@Gregess76@PeteSmith1975@fesshole There's nothing wrong with being autistic. No question of worse or not. It's called the autism spectrum not the everyone spectrum, because not everyone is on it.
@artlawalex@IainDale@LBC@tiffanyjenkins The other person doesn't know the history of restitution in museums. It's been happening for over 100 years! I think it started about 100 years or so with human remains.
@JoPavlopoulou Why don't they realize that many of us are related to folks with severe or profound autism? Whatever that term means. It's almost as if it was genetic, and families frequently represent the whole "spectrum" of autistic experience.
