Cal Cities, @CABigCityMayors, @CSAC_Counties, and @BringCAHome sent a coalition letter to the Legislature urging full restoration of HHAP funding to $1 billion. The program has helped place more than 100,000 people into housing since 2023. Now is not the time to walk back from this commitment and ask local governments to do more with less.
Trump gets:
- $100M arch
- $1B ballroom fund
- A gold coin with his face on it
- A $1.8B slush fund for his MAGA buddies
Meanwhile, he's left Americans with higher grocery bills, higher health care costs, and higher gas prices.
Donald Trump just stole $1.7B from us — and he's creating a slush fund to reward his political allies.
I've never seen anything like this in my 50 years in politics.
It makes Nixon look like a boy scout.

Trump didn’t just pardon his followers who stormed the U.S. Capitol.
He’s now set them up for payments through a slush fund he created to reward his allies—out of your tax dollars.
You could not make this up.
🚴🏻 May is #BikeMonth!
Did you know most trips by car are less than three miles? That translates to about a 20-minute bike ride. For #BikeMonth, think about biking the short distance. It is good for the environment, your health and your wallet.
It was a pleasure to spend time with Prime Minister @MarkJCarney last week in Toronto.
In a rapidly changing world, the longstanding partnership between our two countries remains essential. At home and abroad, there is no going back to old ways - nor should we try - but as neighbors and friends we should work together to shape a better future.

Four students at Kent State University, Ohio, were killed today 1970 by National Guard troops, who also wounded nine others, as they protested Nixon for expanding the Vietnam war into Cambodia.
Do any of you remember this day? If so, how did you react to the violence?
Today we celebrate World Press Freedom Day, sponsored by UNESCO. Unfortunately, this right is often violated, sometimes flagrantly, sometimes in hidden ways. Let us remember the many journalists and reporters who are victims of war and violence.
The New York Times can now proudly say that we have an office in Toronto, where most of our Canada team is based, for the first time in our 100+ years of covering the country. Very proud to be building up our presence here.
Louisiana’s GOP governor just declared a STATE OF EMERGENCY to CANCEL an election.
Not for a storm — but to redraw maps so he can ERASE a historically Black district.
They’re not even hiding it. MAGA is rigging elections to silence YOU.
NEW: 📊 Cal Cities survey data highlights how cities are preventing and reducing homelessness — and how the lack of sustained state funding threatens long-term progress.
Eight in ten cities haven’t received funding from HHAP, CA’s largest homelessness funding source for local governments. https://t.co/P5Lkgfj6rd
