I’m feeling angry, disappointed, ashamed.
As settlers, we’ve failed FN’s people very very badly.
I can’t even begin to comprehend the pain - the violence which the nation has just inflicted on FN’s people with this result.
My love & solidarity with First Nations peoples. ❤️🖤
The past week has done something to me that I never thought would happen - I’ve now gone from a reluctant ALP voter to a reluctant Greens voter. I will ofc preference Labor over the Coalition but the difference between them is so minuscule at this point that I am disengaged.
I’m so fucking disappointed in this country…
Sending my love to all of the Indigenous people all across Australia, I’m so sorry that we failed you
I wish there was more I could do 😭😭

If you were ally enough to vote Yes’, then there’s a few things you can do now.
1. Listen to Aboriginal people.
2. Get that this isn’t about you.
3. The hand-wringing surprise that Australia is racist is insulting. We’ve said it for years. Stop denying, and work to change it.
Whatever happens; there’s a line in the sand. We’ll remember who stood up and did the most. There was always going to be work to be done, now we’ll know where to spend our energy.
Tas, NSW called for No — no pathway from here for this referendum with Qld just starting to report.
Very proud to have voted Yes and I have no doubt Yes voters on the whole made an informed decision. In the end, grassroots and Indigenous voices were up against a well-organised disinformation blitz, backed by big money, old media and entrenched power.
A David and Goliath battle, but they have punched well above their weight, with the national tally looking much stronger than recent polls.
I'm sorry to Indigenous Australians for this outcome.
The strategic aim of the No campaign was to ensure voters were confused, scared and kept in the dark. It makes it difficult to interpret this as a verdict on The Voice, as much as it is a verdict on the scary red herrings that were never on the table.
I will be proud to say in decades to come when I’m asked about this moment, that I stood on the right side of history. I stood for possibilities. I stood for hope.

@KosSamaras Are you essentially saying here that bipartisan political support for this referendum was crucial? Because if so, I agree wholeheartedly. I am also a Yes voter and I’m devastated at the tactics of the No campaign.
