Airlines का एक business model मुझे लगातार हैरान करता है।

टिकट बुक करते समय fare दीजिए।

Taxes दीजिए।

Convenience fee/surcharge जो लागू हो, वो दीजिए।

फिर booking के अगले पन्ने पर airline पूछती है—

बैठना कहाँ चाहेंगे? उसके पैसे अलग दीजिए।

और बात सिर्फ emergency exit, extra legroom या first-row जैसी genuinely premium seats की नहीं है।

सामान्य window seat.

सामान्य aisle seat.

कई बार वो भी paid.

पैसा नहीं देना है? कोई दिक्कत नहीं।

System आपको बाद में free seat allot कर देगा। कहाँ करेगा, ये फिर आपकी किस्मत।

असल में नियम भी बड़ा दिलचस्प है।

DGCA airlines को “preferential seating” को ticket fare से अलग करके paid add-on के तौर पर बेचने की इजाज़त देता है।

सरकार का तर्क रहा है कि इससे basic fare कम रखा जा सकता है—जिसे जो extra service चाहिए, वही उसका पैसा दे।

तर्क समझ आता है।

लेकिन सवाल है—

Preferential seat आखिर है क्या?

Extra legroom वाली seat preferential है—समझ आया।

Front row—समझ आया।

लेकिन सामान्य aircraft seat में सिर्फ window या aisle चुन लेना भी कब से premium सुविधा हो गई?

और कहानी यहीं और दिलचस्प हो जाती है।

मार्च 2026 में Civil Aviation Ministry ने निर्देश दिया कि किसी भी flight में कम-से-कम 60% seats बिना selection charge के मिलनी चाहिए।

यानी सरकार ने भी माना कि मामला passenger convenience और fair access का है।

लेकिन airlines ने विरोध किया।

उनका कहना था कि seat-selection जैसी ancillary income उनके business model का हिस्सा है और इसे सीमित करने से fares पर असर पड़ सकता है।

कुछ ही दिनों बाद सरकार ने 60% free-seat वाला निर्देश hold पर डाल दिया।

तो फिलहाल broadly पुराना मॉडल जारी है—

आपकी ticket में बैठने के लिए seat शामिल है।
लेकिन अपनी पसंद की seat जरूरी नहीं।
यही बात मुझे अजीब लगती है।

क्योंकि दूसरी तरफ aircraft के अंदर भी revenue opportunities कम नहीं हैं।

कहीं overhead bins पर विज्ञापन चिपके हुए हैं।

कहीं seat पर भी वेल्क्रो से विज्ञापन चिपके हुए हैं.

Food में कोई दिक्कत नहीं. क्योंकि खाना है, तो पैसा दीजिए, वरना कोई ज़रूरत नहीं.

Extra baggage में भी चार्ज वसूलना समझ में आता है.

लेकिन Priority boarding और फिर seat selection भी अलग।

Airline का कहना है कि इससे बेस फेयर सस्ता रहता है।

लेकिन यात्रियों का सवाल भी वाजिब है—

अगर सामान्य यानी नॉन-प्रीमियम विंडो और आइल सीट तक paid “preference” बन जाए, तो बेस फेयर में आखिर बच क्या रहा है?

Premium seat के premium पैसे लीजिए।

लेकिन normal seat चुनने की सामान्य-सी इच्छा को भी luxury मत बनाइए।

वरना जिस दिन booking page पर लिखा मिलेगा—

“Aircraft के अंदर यात्रा करना चाहते हैं? Add ₹499”

उस दिन बहुत हैरानी नहीं होगी।

17- सरकारी एम्बुलेंस दलाली में मिलती है।

2014 में जिस उम्मीद से लोगों ने चुनाव किया था, उसमें पूरी तरह से फेल हुए हैं।

Washington today is competing with China but is not interested in a confrontation. It wants to manage the competition and build what the Chinese would call strategic stability. They also clearly don’t want to prop up India and help create a third pole. The U.S. is well aware that unipolarity has passed. This G2 approach is not just a trump thing. The DC establishment would prefer a bipolar competition with China, relegating the rest to manageable sub-powers. This effectively downgrades the value of India in DC’s strategic thinking. The Indians should take note of it.
