@fufuisonme Exactly!!! My jaw dropped when I found that essay. The perpetuation of that stereotype and then to just move on without apology into literally leading the conversation regarding Black women in law?!?! The biracial experience is real but it shouldn't be conflated.

I know it's a sad day for a lot of juniors (and future pupils) at the Criminal Bar. I know many may be reconsidering working in crime (not for the first time). My respect to all for having come together to strike in the first place.

@covertovertly Yes but my worry is that this is setting the groundwork for wider televised cases. As I mentioned, even just having the judge on camera can unconsciously impact decision-making. I think it's important not to concede to this one instance even if seemingly limited in scope.

People (barristers, experts, and judge alike) will also naturally begin playing up for the camera. This will almost definitely lead to further punitive measures and less compassion.

These sentences are evil. It will ruin lives. The guidelines in no way reflect the harm committed, restorative justice or the individuals involved.

Sentencing was awful. We will say more soon. We have been trying to support young people/families and get them to their homes, thank you to all adults who held young people in their darkest times.

3 received 21 years, 1 20 years, the remaining 6 all got 8 years.
