The Long Lake wildfire in West Dalhousie, which began in summer 2025, is now considered extinguished after the completion of recent aerial hot spot scanning.

@CBCOlympics His name is Nazgul, a "stubborn but sweet" Czechoslovakian wolfdog. An official knows his owners and recognized him and called them. Nazgul lives at a nearby bed-and-breakfast and escaped when the owners were out to watch the biathlon event.

STARTING TOMORROW: The Highway 102 southbound off-ramp at Exit 3 (to Hammonds Plains Road) will be closed between 9:30 am and 3:30 pm for rock excavation.
The work is expected to be finished by Friday, November 28. The detour will be via Exit 2B (to Larry Uteck Boul).
Rescue - MARS responded to a young beached pilot whale call in Cow Bay after walkers discovered the animal on shore.
Checking the health of the animal, MARS assembled rescue floats and transported the whale far enough from shore for it to openly swim.

The Long Lake wildfires complex is estimated at 8468 hectares. We’re pleased to report that it is now being held. That means the fire is not likely to grow or move as long as conditions don’t change. It is still not under control. It could still grow if conditions change.
School is back ... and so are school buses!
For some students, this is their first big ride and they're just learning the rules of the road.
Please be extra careful around school zones, and when you see those red flashing lights.
Traffic advisory – Highway 111
Police are responding to a pedestrian-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 111 and Pleasant Street in Dartmouth that is affecting traffic.
Traffic on Highway 111 is being diverted. North and southbound lanes on Pleasant Street from Mount Hope Avenue to Irving Street is closed.
Police are asking the public to avoid the area and take alternate routes, if possible, to avoid delays.
