@Patrick_Reusse Pat who’s been arguing that it’s a huge win? I’ve seen people saying the Gophers did what they were supposed to do but nothing more. The Schtick has an upper bound
@PhilMackey The argument is the upcoming lockout right? If he’s in the MLB, he’s MLBPA and can’t play MiLB next year and would miss a year of development without having a runway in the MLB. I don’t think it’s right, I think he should be on the Major league roster but that’s the argument
I can’t stand it anymore.
In Minnesota, suggesting you’re going to “have a catch” is equivalent of saying you’re “going to the cottage.”
Here, people “play catch” and go the “cabin,” and if you can’t get that straight, take a hike (not a walk).
@J_D_Cameron Fair enough, Kremer wouldn’t have been on my list either, but I do wonder if the pitching lab sees something in the mix à la Gomez. Change the mix to splitter, sinker, cutter and see what happens.
@jacksettleman While it’s absolutely true that the Vikings dominate, and will continue to do so. The overlap between major Vikings fans and Wild fans I’d say is more extreme than Twins and Wolves fans.
@tlschwerz We’re not talking 5k though, the average of the sampled 4 Monday night April games from previous years was 1k difference. You’re the one being obtuse to think the main driver here is the Pohlads. I want backlash against the spending! But you’re missing the forest for the trees
@tlschwerz@DeRushaJ I don’t defend the Pohlads but I live in a reality where stadium attendance numbers on Mondays on a cold spring night are the same as they have been. I expect a decline in attendance, but this is a dumb take. Maybe wait until summer to see real numbers to make the point.
@DJ_raindelay@DeRushaJ I’d gladly take that bet that a Monday night game in years past in below freezing temperatures would be within about 5% of the fan size of this game. People are fed up, no doubt about it, I think we’ll see a down tick in fans, I don’t think this is a good example of that though
@DJ_raindelay@DeRushaJ I’m not defending Twins ownership, I’m not defending the monetary issues or fan apathy/boycotts. But the reality is the stands are THAT empty for 1 reason alone. Weather and a school night. This game on a 70 degree day in July is different, even with understandable fan discontent
Almost a part of me that feels bad for Shelton too, wonder if they told him during the interviews he’s a lame duck until they’re decent again in god knows how long or if that’ll be a surprise
The Twins are hiring Derek Shelton as their next manager. He was a Twins bench coach under Paul Molitor and Rocco Baldelli before he spent five-plus seasons managing in Pittsburgh (306-440 record).
