here is the clip - first it's cos girls don't like the maths, which is then "a natural thing" and then she's totally fine with physics a-level only being 16% girls.
It's sooooo not true! When I did my project at A-Level on Women in Engineering. I found out that my female friends didn't want to do Engineering because they didn't choose Physics.
So, Why Not Physics? They said it is because they felt intimidated being around too many boys!
The IOP is alarmed by comments made by the government’s social mobility commissioner to MPs that more girls decide not to study A-level #physics because they “don’t like” hard maths. Read our full statement: https://t.co/fVDEWvy9SK
“It's fine to let girls choose what they want to study” BUT How they choose the what they want to study is the key! I took Physics for A Level and I was one of three girls out of 20+ students. Then I was only 1 out of 3 who did Engineering out of 80+ students. Shocking! 🤦♀️
Yes I am fine with physics A level not being 50% girls.
I believe our girls choose what they want to study.
Their head of physics was a woman and is brilliant. They are taught well.
We ought to respect their choices.
