The historic resolution to establish #27November as the International Day for the Elimination of Child, Early and Forced Marriage has now been tabled before the United Nations General Assembly. When I first called for this Day at the #CSW70 in March 2026, the purpose was clear: to create a dedicated global platform that strengthens accountability and brings everyone together in unified action to protect every child, especially girls.

The moment is here. Today, the United Nations General Assembly will consider the resolution to designate #27November as the International Day for the Elimination of Child, Early and Forced Marriage.

What began as a call is now before the world. Watch live as history unfolds:

"A very serious issue." -- Hon'ble Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, on child trafficking in orchestras, dance bars and massage parlours.

The Supreme Court of India has issued notice to the Union Government on a PIL filed by Just Rights for Children, challenging the legal loophole that has enabled the commercial sexual exploitation and forced labour of children below 18 in these establishments.

“जब तक समाज यह नहीं समझेगा कि बाल विवाह बच्चों के भविष्य को छीन लेता है, तब तक इसका स्थायी समाधान संभव नहीं।”

बाल विवाह एक गहरी सामाजिक समस्या है जिसे खत्म करने के लिए कानून, जागरूकता और सामूहिक प्रयास जरूरी हैं।

What is child marriage? It is nothing but sanctioned rape of our children. It is a social crime hiding in plain sight. No one marries a child alone—it requires a pandit, a maulana, and a society that participates – @bhuwan_Ribhu @JustRightsIndia @ndtv #ChildMarriageFreeIndia

[SATRA_NGO @Satra_Sipajhar]

The society that celebrates child marriages often doesn’t realise what it is truly celebrating—the impending rape of a daughter, the impending rape of a child – @bhuwan_Ribhu @JustRightsIndia @ndtv #ChildMarriageFreeIndia

In an immensely insightful address at the conference in #PortBlair today, Advocate @RachnaTyagi24, Legal Counsel at #JustRightsforChildren, explained the landmark Supreme Court ruling on Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse Material (#CSEAM) that merely viewing, possessing, or storing material depicting minors engaged in sexual activity constitutes an offence under the #POCSO Act. She also elaborated on why the apex court replaced the term ‘child pornography’ with #CSEAM, clarifying that the former implies a degree of consent, whereas the latter more accurately encompasses all forms of child sexual abuse material, including AI-generated content.
