• January 16, 2025: Squire Patton Boggs, registered as a lobbying firm for RSS

• Lobbying firm Squire Patton Boggs, registered for RSS indirectly through One Plus Strategies

• January - September 2025: Squire Patton Boggs was paid $330,000

• Firm registered this under Lobbying Disclosure Act (LDA) and not through Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA)

• LDA less transparent. FARA is stricter - needs disclosures of all emails, calls, meetings, transactions

• RSS has denied hiring any lobbying firm in the US

• June 2025 RSS event: Bob Shuster, founder of One Plus Strategies and Bradford Ellison, an Associate at Squire Patton were present

• Historian Audrey Truschke has confirmed that she was contacted by lobbyists to gather information

• Lobbyists told the historian that they were retained by RSS to ‘educate law makers’

• Since RSS has denied retaining the lobbying firms, will they take legal action against these firms for pretending to representing them?

• Not registered in India since its foundation in 1925

• It’s not a society, not a trust, not an NGO, not a company

• Recently Mohan Bhagwat said RSS is a body of individuals

• Body of Individuals (BOI), incorporated or not is treated as a person under Income Tax Act of 1961

• RSS has changed identities in the past. Before Income Tax Dept it claimed to be a charitable institution, before the Charity Commissioner it called itself a political institution, it has claimed to be a cultural and educational institutional, and very recently Bhagwat claimed RSS is a body of individuals

▪️𝐑𝐒𝐒 𝐌𝐔𝐑𝐊𝐘 𝐅𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐈𝐍𝐆

• In 1970s when income tax raised a demand RSS said it wasn’t earning any profit but was getting money through Guru Dakshina (donations)

• But if RSS is a Body of Individuals whose source of revenue is Guru Dakshina how did it manage to hire a US lobbyist and send money overseas?

• Former Secy, E.A.S. Sarma has urged CBDT and ED to probe RSS's lobbying in US

• How can RSS which is not registered in India and is funded by donations or "Guru Dakshina" can pay $330,000 for lobbying in the US

• If RSS denies hiring lobbying firms then is a foreign entity impersonating the RSS?

• Or is the RSS is operating abroad financially without any disclosures?

• What exactly are lobbyists hired by RSS doing?

• When govt officials lobby there is diplomacy, when a political party lobbies there is political influence

• But when an unregistered ideological organisation tied to the ruling party lobbies abroad it poses risks

• There is a risk that US lawmakers will have a biased view and understanding of Indian politics, minority rights, democratic practices through the prism of the RSS
