I am Dr. Sivaranjani, a pediatrician , raising concerns about how ERZL is being marketed and positioned in pharmacies, and the risk it creates for consumers making critical decisions during dehydration.
This issue is not about whether ERZL is safe in isolation.
It is about how it is presented, perceived, and potentially misunderstood in real-world settings.

ERZL is a commercially marketed electrolyte drink. However, its branding and advertising raise serious concerns.
*It should not be using ORSL in its communication.*
Why?
Because:
* ORSL itself is not the original medically recommended ORS
* Referencing ORSL in any form creates brand recall in the minds of consumers
* Instead of reducing confusion, it continues and reinforces it
When ERZL is positioned as a continuation or replacement of ORSL, it keeps that same association alive — especially among parents who may already believe ORSL was equivalent to ORS.
👉 This defeats the very purpose of regulatory action.

In pharmacy settings:
* People are often making quick decisions under stress
* They rely on familiar names and visual cues
* Branding can directly influence what they choose
If ERZL continues to build on ORSL recall, it risks being perceived as a medical solution for dehydration, even when it is not the same as ORS (the medically recommended solution).

There are also concerns around ingredients like sucralose, especially in children and with prolonged use, based on global health guidance.
This makes clear communication even more important.

After raising these concerns, I have received a legal notice from Johnson & Johnson and Kenvue.
This petition is not about conflict.
It is about:
* Clarity in healthcare communication
* Preventing consumer confusion
* Ensuring responsible branding and advertising
* Allowing doctors to raise public health concerns without hesitation

We urge the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to:
1 *. Ensure that, since ERZL closely resembles ORSL, Kenvue is directed to rebrand it in a way that does not create recall or association with ORSL.*
2. Prevent misleading positioning that may confuse consumers
3. Strengthen enforcement at the pharmacy level
4. Ensure clear differentiation from medically recommended ORS
5. Protect healthcare professionals raising genuine concerns

200 years ago (early 1800s), Type 1 diabetes was a guaranteed death sentence - diagnosis to death in weeks to months, often in children. Even Type 2 diabetes patients with significant disease rarely survived long. It wasn't until Banting and Best discovered insulin in 1921 that a child with diabetes stopped being a child with a funeral date. Before insulin, doctors [known as Allopaths at the time] literally prescribed starvation diets as the only way to buy a few extra months.

Hypertension (not BP - that is blood pressure) wasn't even recognized as a disease 200 years ago. No sphygmomanometer in clinical use until the late 1800s. People simply dropped dead of "apoplexy" (strokes) and "dropsy" (heart failure) in their 40s and nobody knew why. Franklin Delano Roosevelt - the 32nd President of the United States died of uncontrolled hypertension in 1945 - even that recently, effective antihypertensives didn't exist. Average post-diagnosis survival with malignant hypertension in the 1930s was about 6 months.

Hypothyroidism (not thyroid - that is the gland) severe cases progressed to myxedema coma — fatal in the vast majority 200 years ago. Cretinism (congenital hypothyroidism) left entire mountain communities with irreversible intellectual disability.

Every single one of these "incurable" conditions was a killer or a crippler before modern medicine turned them into manageable chronic diseases. That's not failure - that's a miracle this troll is too scientifically illiterate to appreciate.

Some diseases do not require a cure. They require control. Remission. People live long lives because medical science and scientific discoveries entered the chat.

So dear fool, please dont bring this rotten argument like a headless chicken, into an adult conversation ever again.

Old timers got it right. And when you're poor, you don't have much choice. So our parents, their parents, did what they thought best back in the day.

Bought their house the hard way - slogging, saving, without home loan, borrowing from friends and family. Bought gold because gold is gold. Didn't understand stock market so stayed away. Bought an insurance policy because LIC is LIC and you get bonus.

Look what it got them.

Their kids got a home. That's the best security in a poor country. No home loan. They got the LIC policy. They got gold. All great products worth security and when you're poor, security means a lot.

Sure they missed the Infosys IPO but they also missed so many scams.

What did they do? They sent their kids to schools, colleges, and in a liberalised open India, these kids became VP, senior VP, in banks or IT firms and made more money than their parents and bought even bigger homes. And got very lucky with ESOPs. This is what education and economic reforms got for them.

Now their kids. Gen Z. With the security of parents who worked in MNCs, in the comfort of their 4BHK in Lower Parel. They write long posts on social media about how old India didn't have choice and invested in "garbage" like LIC policies, FD, gold, etc. Whereas the cool way is to log on to an app and invest in an index fund.

Sharam karo saalon. Your grandparents and your parents saw what the real India was. Have some respect.

For likes and follows you're ignoring and forgetting what India used to be and how prior generations gave their best and came out with results they're proud of.
