Abdul Kalam, 35, a Rohingya refugee, arrived on a different boat on Wednesday after fleeing the Rakhine town of Maungdaw and said thousands were trying to escape.
"Arakan Army were killing us... they want to kick us out of Rakhine," he said. "I saw much bloodshed. They are killing Rohingya."

BREAKING.
Thousands of Rohingya from the villages of Maung Ni, Myoma Taung, and Myoma Kayin Dan have gathered on the beach on the western side of Fezi village, seeking a way to flee to Bangladesh for safety and protection.
It has been three days since August 3rd. The Arakan Army (AA), based in Maung Ni, Pan Taw Pyin, Shwe Zar, and Italia villages, has been firing artillery and sending drones to those villages.
Many Rohingya have been killed during these days. We are still gathering the actual number of deaths and injuries.
As the Rohingya in those villages do not feel secure living inside their houses, they see escaping to the beach as a temporary solution while they look for a way to flee to Bangladesh.
Another footage of Rohingya bodies
As we keep receiving the footage, it is likely more than 200 Rohingya civilians, including children, the elderly, and women, have been killed by the Arakan Army (AA) in one single day.
The situation for the Rohingya in Buthidaung Township, Rakhine State, is worsening. Patients can't get the medicines they need, and unnecessary deaths are happening every day. Urgent help is essential.

Both sides in the civil war have targeted the Rohingya settlement of Buthidaung. On May 17, the Arakan Army, an ethnic militia, set it ablaze.

Alongside my fellow NUCC councilors I had a productive meeting with Amb. Wood of @USUN. We discussed recent developments in #Burma & ways to end military's impunity.
I hope the US will continue to support efforts to bring peace, justice, federal democracy for all incl.#Rohingya.

🧵1/ It’s time that news media abandon the “textbook case of ethnic cleansing” description of attacks against #Rohingya in #Myanmar in 2017. It was genocide. The UN FFM report documented all elements of genocide & called for prosecution. The USG made a genocide determination…
UNHCR's troubling collaboration with #Myanmar military surfaces again. Providing logistical support and transport to junta officials directly contradicts the agency's commitment to neutrality.
