New Year Announcement
As the sun set today at Maghrib, we welcome the blessed month of Muharram and the beginning of a new Islamic year.
Muharram is one of the sacred months and a beautiful opportunity to renew our intentions, increase in worship, and draw closer to Allah.
Among the great opportunities in this month are:
- Fasting on the Day of โAshura (10th Muharram) - a means for expiation of the previous yearโs sins.
- Fasting the Ayaamul Beedh (13th, 14th & 15th of the lunar month) from the beloved Sunnahs of our Prophet.
May Allah grant us a year filled with barakah, guidance, forgiveness, and steadfastness upon His obedience.

10 Realities of Qadr & Iman That Will Shake You
1. Your rizq was written before birth.
2. Your spouse was chosen before meeting.
3. Your death date is sealed already.
4. No one eats your share of rizq.
5. Delays are protection, not rejection.
6. What missed you was never yours.
7. What hit you was written.
8. Even sins you regret were lessons.
9. Patience with Qadr earns Allahโs love.
10. Fighting Qadr only breaks your heart.
Ibn Uthaymeen explains in his book Sharh Riyadh al-Saliheen that envy is the dislike of what Allah has bestowed upon others. He said:
ูุฑุงูุฉ ู ุง ุงูุนู ุงููู ุจู ุนูู ุบูุฑู.
You do not have to wish for them to lose the blessing for it to be hasad. If you just feel that irritation or heaviness in your chest because they succeeded, you are already in the territory of envy.
Ibn al-Qayyim also adds in Badaโi al-Fawaโid that this mindset is a direct conflict with the wisdom of Allah. It is like you are telling the Creator that He made a mistake in who He chose to bless.
This is why the Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
ุฅููููุงููู ู ููุงููุญูุณูุฏู ููุฅูููู ุงููุญูุณูุฏู ููุฃููููู ุงููุญูุณูููุงุชู ููู ูุง ุชูุฃููููู ุงููููุงุฑู ุงููุญูุทูุจู
Beware of envy, for envy consumes good deeds just as fire consumes wood.
But I want to say something here. Envy is a natural human emotion that exists in everyone. So, no body is ever completely free from it. Ibn Taymiyyah argued in Amrad al-Qulub wa Shifaโuha that:
ู ุง ุฎูุง ุฌุณุฏ ู ู ุญุณุฏ ูููู ุงููุฑูู ูุฎููู ูุงููุฆูู ูุจุฏูู
No human body is ever truly free from envy. It is a natural spark in every soul. The real difference is that the noble person keeps it hidden and fights it, while the base person lets it control their actions.
To stop the cycle, Ibn Taymiyyah gives these practical steps I want you to follow going forward:
https://t.co/WwdhWdcq1K must use Taqwa to bridge the gap between your feelings and your actions. If you feel that spark of envy, you have to consciously decide not to let it reach your tongue or your hands. As long as you keep it inside and hate the feeling itself, you are winning the battle and Allah will not hold the internal struggle against you.
https://t.co/A3GJk9cPtH should force yourself to perform acts of justice and kindness toward the person you envy. This means making duโa for them and mentioning their virtues to others even when your ego wants to do the opposite. When you force your body to be generous and fair, it makes it easy for you to starve the envy until it dies off.
This approach shifts the focus from feeling guilty about having the emotion to taking active responsibility for how you manage it.
Allah knows best.
