Happy Republic Day to everyone! 🇮🇳
Today, as I celebrate India’s Republic Day from Australia, I can’t help but reflect on the differences I see between the two countries. Having lived here for the past three years, I’ve experienced a different quality of life - cleanliness, behavior, happiness, respect for the people and the environment, and a mindset that values collective well-being.
In Australia, I see a society where people aren’t discriminated against for where they come from, what religion they follow, or what job they do. Everyone is treated equally, and everyone has a fair go. Police works honestly, teachers and politicians fulfill their responsibilities with integrity, conditions of the road and the connectivity is just amazing and tax money is transparently used for the benefit of the people. Healthcare is accessible to everyone, and children grow up with the opportunity to secure jobs and build a comfortable life. These things aren’t privileges - they’re part of the system here, and they make life so much better for everyone.
It often leaves me wondering: Why can’t we have the same in India? It’s not about hating my country; I love India deeply. It’s where I grew up, where my roots are, and it has shaped me into who I am today. But loving your country means wanting it to grow and improve, not ignoring its problems.
Some people tell me, “Now that you’re in Australia, you just complain about India.” But my complaints come from a place of hope. I dream of an India where the air is clean, streets are cared for, ethics guide our actions, and everyone has equal access to opportunities, healthcare, and happiness. An India where children grow up not worrying about inequality or corruption, but instead look forward to a future full of possibilities.
On this Republic Day, let’s honor our Constitution, our rights, and our responsibilities as citizens. Let’s stop ignoring the tough questions and start asking how we can make India better - not just for us, but for future generations. Even as a 23-year-old living abroad, I believe small actions like raising awareness, sharing ideas, or supporting meaningful initiatives can spark change. Remember, change begins with awareness and dialogue. It’s not about doing everything at once but about taking consistent steps to create the India we dream of.
Change isn’t easy, but it starts with each of us. Let’s dream, work, and strive for an India that we are proud to show the world - a country that embodies progress, equality, and justice for all.
Jai Hind! 🇮🇳

@PhilHoneywood Kindly remove the caps as well as there are lots of students stuck past 19 months so please remove the caps and allow the students as they are all vaccinated with recognized vaccine and every other country is bringing students in bulk so please @ljayes#LetUsBackToAus
If one state in Australia (NSW) is now promising NO quarantine for international students then every other state should do the same NOW! We are after all one country NOT 8 different countries!
