An Indian engineer in Bengaluru got tired of potholes destroying his car.

So he built an app with Codex that detects them, finds who is responsible, and files a complaint.

Here is how it works. He installed a dashcam with GPS and an accelerometer. The app records everything while he drives.

A vision model classifies every pothole by size. Small, medium, large.

But here is the clever part. Most Indian roads are under warranty.

The contractor who built them is legally responsible for fixing potholes for free.

His app searches through 2,900 government contracts, finds the exact tender number, identifies the officer responsible, attaches the photo and geolocation, and generates a ready-to-file complaint.

One drive to work. 12 potholes detected. 12 complaints ready.

Pixar hired a chef with three Michelin stars to design the dish in Ratatouille. Then they built the scene around the neuroscience of how taste triggers memory, and got Peter O’Toole to deliver one of the great monologues in animation history.

What you call “taste” is mostly smell. When you eat, molecules rise up the back of your throat into your nose. From there, smell takes a unique route. Every other sense (sight, sound, touch, even the actual taste your tongue picks up) gets filtered through a kind of switchboard in your brain first. Smell skips it. The smell heads straight to the parts of your brain that handle memory and emotion. Which is why one bite of food can drop you back into a moment from 30 years ago.

Ratatouille’s director, Brad Bird, built the entire flashback around this. Anton Ego takes one bite, and Pixar zooms the camera through his pupil into a childhood kitchen. The dish itself was Thomas Keller’s. His restaurant The French Laundry in California has three Michelin stars. He took a 1976 recipe by French chef Michel Guérard called confit byaldi (paper-thin vegetables spiraled over a tomato-pepper sauce) and adapted it for the film. Keller even had Pixar’s producer intern in his kitchen for months to get the look right.

Anton Ego is voiced by Peter O’Toole, the lead in Lawrence of Arabia. He was nominated for Best Actor eight times. Never won. He holds the record (tied with Glenn Close) for most nominations without a win, and once called himself the Academy’s “Biggest Loser.” He was 75 when he recorded the Anton Ego monologue. He died six years later, and it became one of his signature performances.

The speech was Brad Bird’s. In the review he writes the next morning, Anton Ego turns on his own profession. Critics risk almost nothing, he writes. They thrive on tearing strangers apart. The only risk that matters, he writes, is defending new talent when no one else will. He ends with the line everyone still quotes: “a great artist can come from anywhere.”

Ratatouille won Best Animated Feature at the 2008 Oscars, plus a Best Original Screenplay nomination on the strength of Bird’s speech. The film grossed $624 million on a $150 million budget.

An IAS officer in Chhattisgarh FIXED a maternal health CRISIS that the government couldn't solve with a recipe older than modern medicine.

She did it with a ladoo!
Yes, you read that right 🤯

Okay so here’s what happened:
Koriya district had one of the worst maternal health records in the state:

→ High-risk pregnancies → Underweight babies → Mothers going into labour severely anaemic.

Simply because pregnant women weren't getting enough nutritious food.

So District Collector Chandan Tripathi did something no consultant would pitch.

She turned a grandmother’s ragi modak into a structured maternal health system.

Here’s what they did differently:

→ Created iron-rich ragi modak ladoos (dietician approved)
→ Gave 2 ladoos daily to every pregnant woman
→ Added iron supplementation from the 5th month
→ Paired each woman with a “Poshan Sangwari” to ensure she actually consumed them

They called it the Koriya Modak Ladoo programme.

The most brilliant part about this is that they didn't hire outsiders to make the ladoos.

The same women it was meant to help now make the ladoos, earning ₹10,000–12,000 per month.

And look at the results now:

✅ 57% reduction in low birth weight cases.
✅ 362/398 underweight mothers gained healthy weight
✅ 3,00,000+ ladoos distributed so far.

And all of this was possible not because of a ₹100 crore government tender but because of trust in community knowledge and the will to execute it properly.

Sometimes the most powerful solutions aren’t expensive.

The dog lover, dog feeder comes with the pack of his stray dogs of the society early morning to feed them at illegal dog feeding location - Playground. Suddenly the stray charges towards the old man - who is the Chairman of the society and against whom the dog feeder had grudges. Let me tell you dogs were going towards the feeding location for their morning food but it attacks first.

Tell me - isnt this criminal act?

All of us were hurt after watching videos of the horrific attack on Sadhus at Palghar. We spoke in anger, called out Mumbai celebrities for their silence etc.

What did RSS do? One of their organisations, Keshav Srushti adopted 75 tribal villages in Palghar. In the most remote areas where only missionaries and leftists used to reach. They took young volunteers from Mumbai to create a connect between these cut off villages (padas) & cities. They taught them environment friendly skills, gave them bamboo to grow, designed new products with them (organic Rakhee etc), provided healthcare and education opportunities.

They did the really tough part. The essential part, not tweeting from AC room like I do. And they didn't do any publicity. Nobody knows about it. But they are doing it right now as I type this. That's the only way to counter missionaries & Naxals. Thank you RSS for doing it 🙏

When petitions for pensions and govt jobs kept reaching his office, Sandeep Nanduri, IAS (2009 TN cadre) chose a structural solution instead of temporary relief.

He launched Café Able inside the Thoothukudi Collectorate, a café run exclusively by 12 differently-abled individuals.

They underwent 45 days of professional training in cooking, catering, baking, customer service and financial management.

Funded through CSR and donations, the café now serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, earning around ₹10,000 daily.

Not charity.
Not tokenism.
A dignified livelihood model proving that opportunity not sympathy changes lives.
