It wasn't until I'd *taught* algorithms a few times that I finally understood why sorting is in the CS curriculum. Unfortunately, most curricula don't explain this!
It is NOT because sorting is an important algorithm to learn to implement...
@GrantBabcock@BradWilcoxIFS@TheAtlantic Probably some mix of the fall of the ussr, the 91 recession, and two sun belt presidents with very similar policy platforms. Halcyon days babyyyy
If you want to make a career change, but you aren't spending the time to learn & jump into that career, you don't want to switch careers.
When I wanted to get into medicine, I dressed up in a white lab coat, showed up at the hospital and started performing surgery.
A little over a year later... nobody has realized and I am now a senior neurosurgeon.

@Noahpinion The source article he’s using is deeply misleading on that point. “The US is tapped out” On what weapon or system? Wrt what we have in inventory, or merely what we’re willing to give? And what in the bill tells you that?
Did apple just lowkey launch a v1 brain-machine-interface into the Vision Pro?
One of their ex designers just tweeted this:
“One of the coolest results involved predicting a user was going to click on something before they actually did. That was a ton of work and something I’m proud of. Your pupil reacts before you click in part because you expect something will happen after you click. So you can create biofeedback with a user's brain by monitoring their eye behavior, and redesigning the UI in real time to create more of this anticipatory pupil response. It’s a crude brain computer interface via the eyes, but very cool”
Breaking: This morning Rep. Spanberger (D) testified to Congress about banning politicians from trading individual stocks
Her speech perfectly captures why a ban must happen
- trust is at an all time low
- citizens are sick of seeing headline after headline
- it must stop
