Just like a fire hydrant makes it easy for a firetruck to get water, the heli-hydrant makes it easier for firefighting helicopters to get water in the North County mountains. https://t.co/A7a1tZUj8N
Thanks to all who came out to see the new aerial water supply system built in a partnership between @RainbowMWD , @NorthCountyFire , and @CALFIRESANDIEGO . A great example of three public agencies working together to serve their community!
Thank you @CALFIRESANDIEGO@NorthCountyFire and @RainbowMWD for the demonstration of the Rapid Aerial Water Supply Heli-Hydrant in Fallbrook. The first rapid-supply tank of its kind in @SanDiegoCounty, we are thrilled to showcase innovative technology to fight wildfires in CA.
Here is a 3 min video of the first actual aircraft test of @RainbowMWD 's first in the County Heli-Hydrant (with partners @NorthCountyFire & @CALFIRESANDIEGO). Still work to do but it is ready to go now to protect our region for wildfires. https://t.co/kRckZsY36u
Working with @NorthCountyFire and @CALFIRESANDIEGO, the first heli hydrant in the County is being built by @RainbowMWD. The small tank in the background will be filled on command by helo pilots to provide rapid access to clean firefighting water. Stay tuned -should be done soon!
Largely due to water rate increases, San Diego County farmers abandoned an estimated 1 MILLION avocado & citrus trees over the past 2 decades. Now, @fallbrookwater & @RainbowMWD have a plan to lower their wholesale rates by switching water suppliers.
