#Cambodia/#Thailand: 6 years on, authorities must act on the enforced disappearance of Wanchalearm Satsaksit - Both counties are failing to uphold obligations under the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance https://t.co/KVwGcroulf
#Meta should not allow its platforms to be used by @hunsencambodia to threaten critics and silence dissent. His threats are not merely rhetoric. #Meta must enforce its policies consistently. #Cambodia#HumanRights#Meta

Five leading Mother Nature Cambodia activists are unjustly imprisoned in #Cambodia! 70 international and Cambodian NGOs are calling today on PM @Dr_Hunmanet_PM to immediately release the #MNC5. Almost 2 years on from their wrongful conviction, still no appeals trial hearing. Free the MNC5 now!

Scam compounds are Okhna made, Okhna supported. Now threatening much more legitimate and citizen-oriented business sectors like tourism, agriculture.
(Used to think NPLs were a problem; nothing compared to this.)

The United States welcomes the news of Kem Sokha’s release. The United States has consistently called for the release of Kem Sokha and maintained that his conviction related to claims of U.S. involvement in activities against Cambodia’s government was unfounded. His release is a positive development, and we continue to encourage the Cambodian government to ensure its citizens can freely exercise their rights of peaceful assembly and expression.
The end of Kem Sokha's house imprisonment should not be taken as an indication that #Cambodia's government is serious about improving its human rights record. Much more needs to be done! Sokha shouldn't have been imprisoned in the first place, & more than 100 political prisoners remain incarcerated, including the Mother Nature #Cambodia 5. Under the Hun dynasty, Cambodia is at a dangerous crossroads: losing territory, stripped of national dignity ("Scambodia"), and tens of thousands of citizens robbed of their life savings by scams and endemic corruption. A broken justice system is costing us our future!
Speaking to VOD #Khmer about the release of Kem Sokha & noting that unfortunately, the end of his sentence doesn't mean the situation on human rights will immediately improve. People should not read too much into this. Much more work needs to be done to advocate for release of other political prisoners! #PhnomPenh #Cambodia #KemSokha

In less than a day, Hun Sen issued his strongest anti-scam statement yet - then followed with a pardon for Kem Sokha.
My take in @Diplomat_APAC: this isn't reform. It's pressure management by a skilled autocrat.
The lesson? Time to sharpen the pressure.

Speaking to VOD News in #Cambodia about just how far the scam center "crackdown" in that country is going, and the likelihood of bigger fish (close to the gov't) continuing to operate with impunity there. #HunSen#scamcenters

Hun Sen says he wants Cambodian officials complicit in cyberscams to be punished.
But he appointed some of the main players as his own advisers.
